Former champion Vinnie Pazienza is a hunted man today after the ex-boxer was accused of severly beating a man and sending him to the hospital.

The incident reportedly happened in Pazienza's hometown of Providence RI where police were called to a home and told by witnesses that Pazienza accused a friend of stealing $16,000.

The man was taken to a hospital with several broken teeth, a black eye and bites that drew blood.

Pazienza fled the scene before police arrived.

Police are actively searching for the former champ.

Cue the Dragnet music.

Providence police have issued a warrant for the arrest of Pazienza, charging the ex boxer with felony assault.

Although police haven't been able to locate Pazienza, a news crew did.

As he was getting into his car, Pazienza said "Bottom line, I was robbed. And when that happens, you've got to do what you've got to do."

He'll find out just how long the arm of the law is....

He won't have any peace until they catch him and he serves his time... You do what you gotta do....but the law handles all legal matters and that includes robbery... Now you're out 16,000 dollars and probably 16 months as well... And you're compounding your situation with a flight from justice... Plus your somewhat solid reputation is being trashed.. You can't stay at a friend's house until the heat if off -- cuz it will never be off.

Somebody will turn you in... Happy???

Reportedly the assault took place at an apartment in an extremely sleazy part of town.

Anyone want to wager that this whole incident revolves around drugs?

Vinny Paz Turns Himself In, Appears in Court For Assualt Charge

Retired former fighter Vinny Paz has been released after turning himself in on a felony assault charge in Rhode Island.

Paz, who was a two-division world champion, is known for his comeback story after a car crash, which was dramatized in the 2016 film "Bleed for This." He is accused of biting a man, knocking out his teeth and sending him to the hospital.

He appeared in Providence District Court on Wednesday, not long after turning himself in on a warrant issued Tuesday. He did not enter a plea and was released on personal recognizance.
----------------------------
The ex-champion made a series of statements on Twitter and to a local TV station on Tuesday, telling people to ”stop” with the nonsense story and defending his actions.

”Bottom line is, I got robbed. And when that happens, you gotta do what you gotta do,” he said in a brief interview with WPRI-TV outside his home in Warwick, before getting into an SUV and being driven away.

”NO COMMENT !!!!! I’m the bad guy oh really ??? I’m the victim !!! STOP,” he wrote in one Twitter message .

Paz retired from boxing in 2004. Since then, he has had several brushes with the law, including a 2012 no-contest plea to disorderly conduct for a fight with two women at a Providence bar. He also pleaded no contest in 2007 to drunken driving.

I noticed that in photos of Pazienza at his court appearance, the former 5 -time champion sports two very visible black eyes.

At the age of 54, apparently his defensive skills have eroded.

The "gentleman" Pazienza is accused of assaulting, Nathaniel Lavoie, appears to be a real gem himself.

Lavoie has been convictions for felony assault in 2003, driving under the influence in 2010, and felony domestic assault in 2012.

In that case, Lavoie left his girlfriend in critical condition.

And this guy is Pazienza's friend.

They say "water seeks its own level."
