What is Boxrec's official position on recording bouts?

Hi

Hopefully a contributor/editor, or the owner will see this and be able to help.

Is it possible to know the official stance of Boxrec on recording professional (and exhibition) bouts on their site, please?

Moving forwards, i am sure that this would assist potential promoters, matchakers, and indeed, sanctioning bodies, when assessing the UK scene for future boxing shows.

I am sure that this has been covered at various points within various threads, however, i've started this for easy access.

WOULD BE GREAT TO KNOW:

1. Which World organisations does Boxrec recognise?

2. Why are some World organisation's contests recorded on Boxrec whilst others are not - what criteria has / hasn't been met?

3. What criteria is there that Boxrec follows that allows them to recognise an entity as a 'Commission', or licensing authority? (forget any previous BIBA arguments before the naysayers hijack this, and no, i am not part of BIBA)

Note:
This has been asked due to previous posts regarding the removal of commissions as being recognised by Boxrex, as well as the removal of championship contests from the lesser organisations for whatever reason. Also, previous 'Bigger's Better' boxing promotions that have had professional boxers have had their records ignored, or removed. Yes, i am a promoter, and i am keen to know what the official stance is on this. Personally, i think the BBBoC do an OK job at regulating professional boxing, however, like a lot of other people, i also feel that they are holding the sport back a little in certain aspects.

Help appreciated.

PS Is it possible to not let this thread deteriorate into a slanging match? Cheers

The simple answer is that there is no hard and fast criteria. There is no universally accepted definition of professional boxing let alone a single world governing body. Some countries have government or government recognized commissions which we recognize by default unless they are manifestly corrupt. We try to recognize commissions who are established and above all honest and competent. Also their boxers are up to the standard of and compete in the "World pool" of professional boxers. Thus the likes of the WSB are not recognized as they use a mostly distinct pool of boxers. Hope that helps :TU:
