very interesting how bookies have braithwaite favourite, basically like sheep following this inexplicable dedication to the bumbling brawler by those stateside. I'm having a few quid on mormeck, i haven't seen much of him but from what I have seen he should be the relatively clear favourite.

Mormeck can certainly be outboxed but Braithwaite isn't the man to do it, he has power but stands square on and his defence is wide open, that's okay against guys like Cantatore and Springs but Mormeck is a fighter who never stops coming forward and throws a lot of shots. Mormeck wins for me, probably by stoppage.

Riddick/Steve - interesting. I really rate Braithwaite and see him stopping Mormeck mid to late. Braithwaite will struggle against a top class counter puncher but am not sure it is one of Mormeck's main strenghths.
Its a class match-up.

Yes, they are cousins to the sheep following the inexplicable dedication to the bumbling brawler from Manchester.

I am going for Braithwaite, I was impressed with him in his victory over Rivera Springs (who isn't bad himself). Whilst, Hill is a good 40 year old, he is not the fighter he once was. He apparently came within a whisker to beating Mormeck. Had Mormeck not but Hill down (and I don't think it was a hard knock down, Hill would have won on points).
If Hill can almost beat Mormeck, then I think Braithwaite can.
Braithwaite on pts (hope the winner fights Thompson).

I am going for Braithwaite!!!
I think the move up to 200lb will suit him better.... Mormeck used to fight at light heavy so isnt that big. ( damn, didnt realise Braitwaite fought at light heavy too although 3 years earlier than Mormeck)
Mormeck gets hit a lot and Braithwaite can punch

Mormeck injured!
By Christian Chataignier
It looks more and more like the Ocotber 2 card in New York City, USA, is under a curse. After José Rivera's injury and the forced postponement of his WBA 147lb title defense vs Thomas Damgaard, another title clash scheduled on the same night has been called off. WBA cruiser champ Jean-Marc Mormeck got injured while training and his unification clash against WBC counterpart Wayne Braithwaite will be postponed as well. No news yet about an eventual new date

ehhh, enough you miserable old man. I'm no hatton fan.
so mormeck is definitely out then? bummer. time to wait another 10 years for a unification fight then.

no he is not ! Mormeck got injured while training and from what i know, the fight is postponed to November...the day isnt determined yet but the fight WILL happen on november so don't worry you won't have to wait 10 years for a cruiser unification.
btw Mormeck beat up Hill pretty bad both times...just that Hill made it to round 12 the 2nd fight , and it was scored awefully, Mormeck was way ahead and KD Hill 2 times and he really did...Hill did not slip.

braithwaite in a violent clash that somehow resembles a boxing match, petty mormeck

Mormeck will feast on Braithwaite...what mormeck has aquired these last 2 years is great handspeed and defense+footwork...Braithwaite's chin is quite untested and so is his stamina...Braithwaite will be a static and easy target to hit for Mormeck...and Mormeck wont tire...the more it will go , the best Momeck will look...If Braithwaite cant make it to really hurt Mormeck early and finish the job he will lose...

Mormeck is nice and compact, but doesnt like getting hit. I think it all depends whether he is strong and tight enough to push Braithwaite back. If he cant, Braithwite wins, if he does, its his fight. Gonna be a roughhouse one though.

Mormeck is VERY HARD and SOLID...he is extremely strong phisicaly...i dont know if any of you have seen him , he has impressive muscles...he hasnt got a 1 punch KO power but relentless power that wears down opponents usually over 5 - 8 rounds...and he is a master at body shots...he has a solid chin and very good defense...now what about Braithwaite? i dont think he has ever faced a guy that was as strong as him and who could withstand his power and push him backwards...Does Braithwaite even know how to fight backwards?...well i hope he does because if you start backing away vs Mormeck you are in trouble...
Here is what i predict :
round 1-5 : Braithwaite comes strong throwing wild swings, stunning Mormeck a few times , Mormeck is careful and starts establishing his jab, using his footwork to stay away from Braithwaite...he starts aiming the body...
round 5-8 : Braithwaite starts slowing down a bit...Mormeck is starting to feel good as he is a slow starter with great stamina. his body shots start to hurt Braithwaite...Mormeck starts using the uppercut that make Braithwaite back away...But Braithwaite is still dangerous.
Round 8-12 : Braithwaite is getting tired and the body work is starting to pay a lot. Mormeck is now the aggressor and has a lot left in the tank. he is now fighting forwards with his favorite right hand Body/head uppercut...
Braithwaite goes down a few times before being stopped as he has too little left to stand the relentless pressure...Mormeck TKO10
of course it is only a possibility but i think it looks realistic enough...
