It’s ridiculous that Johnson is even mandatory. The Geezer hadn’t fought in about 3 years and pulled out of the last fight with Burton at the last minute and probably will do so again.

The board need to grow a pair and sort of this crap. Order Buglioni - Burton and Johnson to fight somebody like Ricky Summers as Yarde doesn’t want to be involved in this situation

Good fight. Johnson really needs to get his head down and focus on making it to the ring here. His career has been piss poor so far. I thought he was one to watch but he's been disappointing.

Massively affected by his dad's illness and subsequent death nearly his whole career.

Most people would be yeah. That explains a few things. Hopefully he can crack on now. The Buglioni fight could be make or break for him. Makings of a good scrap.

johnson is a monster - he can box and bang but all this inactivity wont have done him any good.

this is still a winnable fight for him though, probably more so than the fight with burton. buglioni will right there in front of him.

could go either way - definitely a fight to look forward to.

I really enjoyed watching Johnson at the Commonwealth Games but his career hasn't progressed the way I thought it would. Big opportunity for him against Buglioni. But, I think his lengthy lay off might be his down fall.

An interview I did the other day with Buglioni.

Frank Buglioni to put friendship aside when he defends his British title against Callum Johnson – Commonwealth title on the line!

He won the commonwealth in his last fight, i think that is why he was made mandatory.

From what little I have seen he seems a decent boxer who can whack a bit. His career hasn't got going as he seems to have injury/illness problems all the time.

Nice looking fight..... and.like a lot of other folk I was also wondering where he was and why so very quiet.
Good to have some background reasons explained.

What little I've seen him as a pro suggests that he hits hard and also very clean, on the button shots and does not waste too much energy either.

I guess Buglioni starts favourite but he'll be in with a tidy fighter and will really need to watch himself.

I’m starting to rate Buglioni more and more and I think he wins this, Johnson’s inactivity being the deciding factor. I don’t think Frank gets to World level but if he wins the British outright and picks up EBU at some stage he will have done really well...

There's a Buglioni vs Yarde thread on page 1 but this was on page 3 despite actually being scheduled for this weekend

The bookies have this surprisingly close. I thought Buglioni would be a bigger favourite considering Johnson's inactivity. I like Buglioni by decision at 5/2. Burton lasted until the 12th, Summers and Richards went the distance so I can see this going late as well.

Looking forward to this, is it still a unification?

Buglioni's got tons more pro experience, he's fought for a world title, moved up to LHW and won a war against Burton and forced a last round KO which shows he's still punching strong at 175 and he keeps his power late on, the Summers and Richards defences he showed a lot more composure but still set a great pace

Seems like a lifetime ago Johnson won Commonwealth Gold for Scotland, his careers been blighted by injury and inactivity, thought he would've kicked on when he KO'd Shihepo for the Commonwalth title but he hasn't fought since then and that was 2016, he's always impressed me Johnson, he's strong, hits hard and is well schooled

Even with Buglioni's experience and durability I still think Johnson will win this one, maybe even by late KO, too big strong and i'd say technically a lot better than Buglioni who has a poor defence and headhunts

Great match up though

Just watching an IFL video with Hearn now and he said it's for both belts.

The poll has it close too
I'm surprised at that, Frank has a pretty good grip on that belt.

That's what I voted. It's sink or swim for Johnson here. I think he'll give it everything and come away with a stoppage late on. Really looking forward to this one.
