WHAT EVER HAPPENED OT THUMBLESS BOXING GLOVES? ARE THEY STILL MANDATORY IN NY OR OTHER STATES?

NY was the first state to make them mandatory for pro boxing but the fighters hated them. Amateur boxing used them for awhile but it was not mandatory. Everlast had the paten on them so the other companies like Ringside could not make them without paying a fee to Everlast and at that time in the late 80's-early 90's ,most gyms were using Ringside stuff because of the prices and quality. Bottom line, nobody was buying them so Everlast stopped making them and sanctioning bodies stop making them mandatory.

plus it was difficult to pull your trunks up with em' when they sagged according to Willie Pep.
