Eddie Hearn on Thursday announced Dillian Whyte will meet Lucas “Big Daddy” Browne on March 24 at The O2 in London.

“I can’t wait, I hate Lucas Browne and I want to hurt him,” said Whyte, who engaged in a war of words with Browne on social media last year. “He’s said some nasty things and he’s going to have to pay for them".

A win over Browne, and Whyte is in line for a rematch with Anthony Joshua, his bitter rival whom he rocked in their first meeting.

Browne said : “I’m genuinely looking forward to coming over to the UK again and bashing Dillian."

“If Helenius and Dereck Chisora hurt him, wait until he feels how I hit. I don’t like anything about him. He’s a loud mouth and I want to take his head off".

Whyte has to win this. Since Browne beat Chagaev he's fought exactly once-- against a fighter on a 9-loss skid.

Whyte has fought 6 times, against some good competition, and won them all.

So while Whyte hasn't looked great all the time (Chisora was a close one), he better be good enough to beat Browne. Chagaev is the only really good fighter Browne has faced, and Ruslan was over the hill (and still almost stopped him before getting lazy and careless later in the fight).

Far from an ideal preparation for Browne. But he is a natural born thug and will bring it like he always has.

No, lots think he lost to Chisora. I definitely think Chisora won that fight.

Slow they might be but neither one is boring :shame:

Should be a good scrap for as long as it lasts :box:

Whytes leaky defense and the monstrous power that Browne has should produce a highlight type KO in this one

Looking forward to this one. Should be a brutal affair.

I can see it going the distance to be honest.

A bout between Browne and Whyte is a dead-cert barnburner, which will likely result in Dillian’s body shots wearing down the Aussie en route to scoring a late stoppage (or a clear-cut decision victory if Lucas loses ambition and tries to survive instead of trying to compete).

This is a no-lose situation for Eddie Hearn, because this is going to be an entertaining fight, regardless whoever emerges victorious, with a rematch being a dead-cert if it manages to fulfil its potential of being an action-packed exciting bout.

This is excellent matchmaking from a fight fan perspective.

Depending on his layoff and hopefully gets through without PEDs being detected, I fancy big Lucas to KO Whyte.

Hopefully a grudge match slugfest, Dillian is very active but carries no power. He is also very easy to hit.

Browne KO.

Watch Whyte’s bout in the US against Malcolm Tann and you’ll see the reason why he possesses that moniker.

Dillian struggled to get on the inside against the highly-negative survival mode mind-set of the constantly retreating Robert Helenius, so there wasn’t much evidence of Whyte’s body shots during that bout.

Browne would be very good win on Whytes resume. I am already giving him big props for taking the fight. He really seems to be willing to fight everyone. Modern day Chisora :box:

Helenius has solid defense. Protects the body well. Too bad he has shit stamina. Lazy trainer?

I just re watched the Browne vs Towers bout.

The first time Browne hurt Towers shows the power that Lucas has...

Nice short hook that doesn't seem to have much to it send Towers trough the ring on chicken legs :box:

It seems like it should be practically a toss up, even if oddsmakers have Whyte a solid 4-1 favorite.

I think Whyte gets a little bit too much respect simply because he once staggered Joshua .

That could very well be. But I agree it's a close one.

Browne has power, no question about that. But the short right hook he caught Towers with was as much about accuracy as power. Browne paused and ensured he landed it absolutely flush.

Looking forward to this. 2 years prior Browne was a fighter with unquestionable power and decent poise. D Whyte is an unquestionable d$&khe#d but has a questionable chin and power. Interesting to see how it will unfold. Go Browne!

Good matchup. I pick the Australian by KO. He's another one that was unfairly banned by the drug test mob. That fight with Chagaev in Grozny was one of a kind. I've never seen anything like it. The pistol packing president of Chechnya was Chagaev's cornerman, and he retired to his purple couch between rounds, and strange rounds they were too, lengthened and shortened depending on how Chag was doing. It was almost as bad as Las Vegas.

I really like both fighters. Lucas can bang and if you're a bit static he's your nightmare. On the other hand I feel he would be easy meat for Hughie Fury. Dillian is the better boxer but he's not too hard to hit so I'm wondering if he is sufficiently mobile to make Browne a comfortable opponent for him, I suspect the answer is "not mobile enough to make it easy, but maybe enough to prevail in a tough fight."

The biggest concern watching the snore-fest with Helenius was that before the big Finn retreated into survival mode, he had Whyte on very wobbly legs looking like he wouldn't survive the round (1st or was it 2nd). I was quite alarmed at how vulnerable Whyte was looking. At that time I had been hoping Wilder would take Eddie's big offer to fight Dil in London, but i was suddenly seeing a repeat of the Wilder v Harrison fight instead of the gruelling struggle I had previously envisaged for Deontay.

One thing I can be certain of and that is that Browne against Whyte is in an intriguing match and should be a great fight. The last time I said a Whyte fight should be a great one was when he was going to fight Chisora and that was none too shabby was it? Well I have the same feeling about this one. :box:
