What do you think of Errol Spence?

My opinion.....

High calibre fighter. Great for boxing. I think he’s the hardest puncher in the welterweight boxrec top 10 by a decent margin.

He’s a puncher more than he is a boxer but also has a ramrod jab. He’s boxing skills IMO are far more offensive than defensive. Saying that….I feel he can be out-boxed. Not by the likes of Lamont Peterson, although I believe Lamont will try. But a Crawford or perhaps even Thurman. Of course these two, in particular Crawford, are arguably the best pound for pound fighters on the planet.

Good fighter although haven't seen anything to suggest he could beat Crawford who I think is the best in the business right now.

I don't think Crawford beats him... I think TC gets run over... And Lomachenko is the best fighter on the planet.

I think this topic has been discussed to the sheer point of exhaustion on several other threads, with the resulting comments generally being very positive in nature.

And before you or anyone else is tempted to do this, please don’t create a thread asking forum members to submit their thoughts on Terence Crawford either.

I get it! I really do! Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. are both really good fighters! :brick:

I just don’t think we need to have 30+ separate threads discussing precisely the same subject matter, where the same comments get continuously posted time-and-time again by the very same set of people, much akin to a bunch of fûckîng children riding carousel horses!

There are multiple threads that already exist discussing this weekend’s Spence Jr-Peterson bout.

Do you need links or will you insist on creating a separate thread of your own discussing the very same subject matter  ?

At least Lazboy's thread is original instead of just copying and pasting a news article from another site, which we can all read ourselves, so STFU EO.

Lazyboy might have created this thread personally, but the subject matter isn't truly original now is it, since there are dozens of other threads created beforehand discussing precisely the topic.

In terms of my news threads, which relate to stories published within the last 24 hours (sometimes only a couple of hours old), you’re more than welcome to ignore them

At least you can’t accuse me of disclosing information that had already been discussed at length previously, but you won’t concede that blatantly obvious point, will you?

I put him in my p4p top 5 and feel sorry for him, as he is being ducked by all top welters with the exception of Brook (very similar to Golovkin's past experience).

Looks solid, can box a bit and big at the weight. Him and Crawford would be very interesting. Crawford is the better boxer IMO and has to settle in to the weight but it's a massive fight that could happen by the end of this year all going well.

I'd love to see Spence turn ESPN's self-appointed P4P king, Terrence Crawford, into a skittish galloping pony.

Crawford won't stand still if he's wary of his opponent's power.

Alas, the fight will be a difficult one to make for all the usual reasons.

What I like more about Spence's boxing ability, is his attitude. Same goes for Crawford. Both guys will bring it, and will not avoid a fight with anyone. Boxing needs more guys like this.

As far as a fight between the two? A fight of the decade, for sure. Both have skills and advantages that makes for a fantastic fight. Until we see both tested some more, we really won't know. I think Spence is in for a real fight vs Peterson. If he dominates and stops him his stock will go up. If he doesn't, I have a feeling many will have a much lower opinion of Spence, despite the fact that Peterson is very skilled. He beat Khan and I also thought he edged Garcia.

I agree. Both have their strengths and weakness. Spence seems very durable more so than Crawford whereas Crawford has those silky smooth boxing skills. I'm looking forward to the Peterson fight. If Peterson does try and box him and in doing so Spence looks a little clumsy at times or maybe that's too harsh a word, maybe just not as effective or perfect early on, I feel people won't regard him as high (as you said) ...although every fighter is human and has their strengths and weaknesses.

Peterson is a good fighter no doubt and it will be entertaining but I think Peterson is almost made for Spence. His boxing from the outside is not good enough to hurt Spence imo. Like I said he may make Spence look less than perfect for small periods. Then if he trys to rumble/trade with spence he's playing the spence game and may get hurt bad. Peterson really came on late in the Garcia fight...too late if you ask me. Garcia imo, landed the bigger shots for the first half then Peterson started brawling him to win some of the later rounds, close fight, I thought Garcia just won it.

Anyway we will wait and see. Maybe it will be a load of sh$% I just said :OhYes:

Come on now. You are guilty of this. How many times have you accused Kovalev of ducking Adonis across multiple threads and that's just memory serving me. It's not like you to ever concede an argument, you simply regurgitate your point until people move on whereby you claim a win, like its an achievement.

Hard to fathom that Spence is as much as a staggering 45-1 favorite over Peterson Saturday.

While that's the heaviest spread I can find, most books list Spence as between a 20-1 and 25-1 choice.

Considering that it's a quality fight, those are the type of odds that would indicate that either Spence is already viewed as an all time great welter or that Peterson is a hopeless stiff.

Spence shows promise but I think it's a little early to designate Spence as a boxing superstar.

And while Peterson generally fails at the elite level, he's a strong, competent fighter who can give any welter a difficult scrap.

If Spence performs as the lopsided odds suggest, then it should be a quick blowout and an impressive addition to his unblemished resume.

But I think the overlooked, gutsy Peterson just might give Spence all that he wants.

It still probably won't be enough to derail The Truth, but in the end Peterson will gamely make those one-sided odds look silly.

Sergey Kovalev did duck Adonis Stevenson. It's not even up for debate, since it was a well publicised real world event corroborated by all parties concerned, even his own promoter concedes this fact.

Why would he stand still and let himself take power shots from a known puncher? You're saying that as if it's a critisism! It's boxing.
