Lucas Browne aiming to shut up Dillian Whyte’s big mouth before targeting Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua’s titles

I managed to speak to Lucas Browne last night ahead of his today's press conference which starts in 20 mins time.

We spoke about his failed drugs test, alias, proudest moment, Whyte, Twitter spat, Wilder, Joshua and more.

I hope you enjoy the interview.

---------

Former WBA champion Lucas Browne is currently undefeated as a heavyweight boxer, having won all of his 25 fights.

His next challenge is to beat Dillian Whyte, whose only defeat in 23 fights came at the hands of Anthony Joshua.

Both fighters have an impressive knockout ratio: Browne has 22 knockouts from 25 victories while Whyte has 16 knockouts from his 22 wins.

Browne hasn’t been active in recent years due to a failed drugs test. He told Ringnews24.com:

Who do you think wins the fight?

Whyte should win this. Browne is slow as molasses and about as skilled.

I believe that Lucas Browne has been specifically chosen by Eddie Hearn to lose his fight against Whyte, with a view to their contest being a replica of Dillian’s bout against Dereck Chisora (i.e. a highly-exciting headline-grabbing slugfest that goes to a decision).

I can’t help thinking that Matchroom’s long-term goal, whilst AJ participates in a mandatory defence of his WBA title against Povetkin, is for the following events to unfold:

• The WBC mandates a bout between Deontay Wilder and Dillian Whyte
• Matchroom wins the purse bid and ‘The Bronze Bomber’ either vacates his WBC title or agrees to face ‘The Body Snatcher’ on UK soil for far less money than he originally demanded several months ago
• Dillian Whyte then scores the upset via a controversial decision victory over Deontay Wilder to secure a mega-money title unification showdown against Anthony Joshua
• AJ would then be in a position to sign an exclusive contract with HBO, safe in the knowledge that there are no American TV network barriers preventing him from retaining ownership of all four world title belts

I feel that Anthony Joshua needs to maintain his current relationship with Showtime in order to keep alive the possibility of a title unification bout against Deontay Wilder, but this will probably terminate shortly after ‘The Bronze’ bomber eventually loses his belt either to himself or to someone that's an American TV network free agent (like Whyte).

Having just watched the press conference I thought Browne got the better of Whyte overall.

But, it seemed to me as if Whyte got under his skin a little when he called him a junkie.

Its on Matchrooms youtube page if anyone want's to watch it -

My take on it is that Sillian kept talking over Browne for fear of been made to look like a Jerk if Browne was given time to reply.
Browne defeated Whyte by late late round Stoppage....
Deontay Wilder will KO Luis Ortiz mid term 6 or 7 th round
And something tells me Parker will UPSET Joshua.
Povetkin KO 5 over David Price.
Wilder will KO Povetkin
Parker will KO Browne
Winners will meet next year ?????

Browne is another crude-punching oaf with unjustified, perceived power, like Erkan Teper. There is a good chance that Whyte will make him look like an amateur.

Oi! Oi! Oi!
I agree, Whyte simply isn't that good. Browne is way better than that aged Viking who had Whytes eyes rolling back in the second round. I hope Eddie is ringside so I can see his face when Whyte kisses the canvas and the tattooed penis stands erect and victorious.

Lucas will beat him up. He's got pretty good stamina for a big guy, and pretty good workout. It won't be totally one sided, but it won't be that close.

Chagaev did... into the ko

Can't doubt those whiskers or that power. For me it's a toss up.

I'm not sure Dillian knows that :D

I think this is a fascinating match. I just about favour Whyte because he's the much younger man and has been way more active, but Lucas presents a problem to anyone he can hit. In my opinion someone like Hughie Fury would handle Lucas with ease (lop-sided points dec) but Whyte is not a mover and he would play into Browne's hands by going to war with him.

Going by how vulnerable Dillian looked before Helenius went into sparring partner mode - I really thought an early knock out for Helenius looked only seconds away - I would advise Dillian to use his boxing and not get drawn in to a punch-up with Browne. Whether he can be disciplined enough to avoid a brawl is the big question.

I hope he can. I like both fighters but Dillian is taking a huge risk by fighting someone as dangerous as Lucas Browne when many fighters in his position would sit it out or fight easy opposition while waiting for their title shot. Not Dillian. The man is a warrior and his courage in fighting a genuine threat deserves to be rewarded with success.

Boxing's best habit is winning and Browne has that habit. Unless the combination of rust and age suddenly engulf him, Browne will give a very good account of himself in this fight and ask Whyte some hard to answer questions.

Whyte isn't anything special either.

I favor him, but wouldn't be shocked by an upset.

Browne may be able to parlay what's left of his career into another modest payday or two against contenders looking to get a win over a former WBA titlist, but that's about it. He's done. Not that he was all that much, to begin with, mind you, but his unbeaten record & having held a belt made him a player until tonight.
Hopefully for his sake though, Browne won't decide to stick around as that was a bad knock out to suffer & now that he's been KO'd so violently, he'll be much more susceptible to such losses in the future. Especially with no defensive skills to work with.

Speed beat power, Whyte beat Browne.
Big improvement from Dillian from what I've seen before, Browne was just the usual Browne going up a level too far. Hearn got it exactly right.

Dillian definitely a contender now. Heavyweight scene's really cooking.

What's with the improvement talks? Did anyone notice how horrifically out of shape Browne was? Guy didn't even look like he trained a single day for this fight. Ridiculous.

It's unfair to undermine Dillian Whyte's victory when Lucas Browne received a career high payday.

If the Aussie chose to enter the ring in as equally bad shape as he didn't when he faced Chagaev, then that ain't the Brit's fault.

No, no it's not. Browne looked god-awful. He would've been beaten by Breazeale and Duhaupus showing up in that shape.
