Tyson Fury: British Boxing Board of Control agrees to lift suspension

British boxing chiefs have met with Tyson Fury and say they will reinstate his licence to fight once they receive up-to-date medical records.
The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) suspended Fury in 2016 owing to "anti-doping and medical issues".
The 29-year-old accepted a backdated two-year anti-doping ban in December.
He was interviewed by the BBBofC on Friday when the body agreed to lift his suspension, paving the way for a return to the ring in the coming months.

No. He clearly said he could have sued them for 50m but it would be years to get through court. Just wanted his license back so did a plea bargain.

Tyson couldn't give a toss.
He failed a drug test and went off the rails for a bit enjoying himself.
He then decided to get fit and make a comeback.
All of the above was done to his timetable - the UKAD result was manufactured to not affect his plans, and also to save themselves a bit of face, and the Board have given him his licence back when he wanted it.
So, Mickey is right - everything has happened just as Tyson wanted / said it would.

Said it before, know loads of scenarios where this has been the case. Knew an innocent kid get 3 years because he was terrified of getting a seven if guilty. He wasn't!

I obviously don't have a clue how the legal process works in UKAD situations, but in court, the highest court, it's often sorted before you go in. A lot of "back room chat" goes on. Saves time and a lot of money. Tell me I'll swerve jail and I'll take the deal, even innocent, we don't need incarcerated, innocent heroes.

Meh, dunno if I will watch his next fight, whenever that may be, or not.
I am surprised that anyone feels like there has been some kind of victory in all this.

He became heavyweight champion, didn't fight in at least two and half years, bottled a rematch with the man he beat, admitted to a drug charge and became morbidly obese.
No matter how you try and paint it even the most die hard Fury fan would have to admit it's been a terrible reign as champion.

Pissing away two years plus of your career is hardly a victory, whatever the reasons behind it.
I look forward to seeing his return, and hope he can recapture some of his form. I'm not a fan, never was, but I'll give him his due, and let's be honest, a fight with him and Joshua will be the biggest all British heavyweight showdown since the days of Henry Cooper. It will almost certainly be the highest grossing all brit fight ever, by some distance.
If Tyson has a couple of tune ups, and looks impressive doing so, then next year could see a wembley stadium sellout and unprecedented PPV sales for a fight in this country. It's a promoters dream.
