No joke, according to Mikey Garcia. I had to see a video to believe he was serious. Got to like his confidence and daring to be great. Skip to 3:38 if you don't want to watch the whole video.

I think this is simply a case of Mikey using Spence Jr’s name to put himself into the media limelight. Garcia is supposedly moving back to 135lbs to face Jorge Linares after his bout against Lipinets (as ordered by the WBC).

Possibly. If Mikey and his brother are so stupid to get into the ring with Spence, Mikey will be lucky to get stopped quickly to not endure too much damage.

Garcia would toy with Linares, who has never beaten a truly top fighter and has a suspect chin to boot.
Spence is another story. P4P it's a competitive fight. But Garcia moving quickly to 147 against Spence seems somewhat of a reach.
And I'm not certain that the purse would make it worthwhile. As good as they are, neither Garcia or Spence are household names
There are no $10 million + paydays awaiting Garcia, even versus Spence.

Garcia could make $10 mil fighting Pac, but he will likely not want to work with Arum. Mikey would also have very decent chances to beat Manny at 140.

I don't think that Arum would pay Garcia anywhere near $10 million. Mikey is not one of his favorite people.
And yes I agree that Garcia would have an excellent chance to beat Pacquioa. Especially at 140 since I don't believe that Pacquiao can make that weight and remain strong.
He would stop a drained Pacquiao.
But hell. I'm confident that Garcia could even beat Pac at 147.
But again, Spence is another story.

I'm not count ing out Mikey against anyone.
Spence is the goods. But he does get hit. Thus far he's shown a great chin. I don't think he's all that much bigger than Garcia. He is more powerful. But Mikey is the more skilled and faster. Would be a great fight.

Given Garcia's lack of size, I don't think this fight would be worth it. I would prefer to see Garcia fight Rances Barthelemy, Lomachenko, Robert Easter, Jorge Linares, or Terry Flanagan.

Spence is huge for WW. As many others, he is using his youth to cut huge amount of weight. He is about as tall as Golovkin with a longer reach. His frame is big too. Garcia is a midget compared to him.

Wow...Mikey is serious but I dont think his chances are good. Spence is just to big and too quick for him...3.5 " in height and 4" in reach!!

Ricky Hatton walked around at 200 pounds. But he never ruled the welterweight division.
Comparing Spence to Garcia, it looks like Spence has the muscles of two welterweights and none of the fat; it looks like Garcia has the fat of two welterweights and none of the muscle.

It was in Brisbane Oz, partially funded by the Brisbane City Council and I believe Queensland State may have chipped in too.
Pretty decent event really, only Hearn last year put on something bigger.
