Mine would be Duran vs Tony Ayala Jr. and Roy Jones Jr. vs Holyfield.

The cancellation of Castillo vs Corrales 3 the day before the fight was set to take place was a real heartbreaker.

We never got to see it, and it's a damn shame.

I really wish they'd have just scheduled the rubber match for 140 instead of trying to do it as a Lightweight bout again.

Mine's a little off the wall, but to this day I'm still irritated that an L.A. showdown between welterweights Randy Shields and my favorite, Monroe Brooks, was never rescheduled at the Olympic Auditorium.

I can't even remember exactly when it was set for. Somewhere around 1976 or 1977 I believe.

I had tickets for the fight. Good ones too. Third row ringside. A princely sum of $15 each.

Shortly before the fight was scheduled, Shields pulled out with a virus.

Brooks had the tools to beat the favored Shields, but he often fought in the wrong style.

He was a fast boxer with pretty good power. But he preferred to slug. Even against Duran. Go figure.

If he would have mixed boxing with slugging, then he very well could have beaten Shields.

But we will never know.

That's right, with Ruelas-Schwer and Herbie Hide - Tommy Morrison on the same card. It fell apart the day of the weigh in when John Daly, who was involved in the Rumble In The Jungle, couldn't come up with guaranteed funds so the card was pulled.

That's right, with Ruelas-Schwer and Herbie Hide - Tommy Morrison on the same card. It fell apart the day of the weigh in when John Daly, who was involved in the Rumble In The Jungle, couldn't come up with guaranteed funds so the card was pulled.

Was intrigued with the proposed Eubank/Golovkin match and was relieved for Gary Sykes when the Broner fight fell through

Not so sure Bruno does, for every good Mercer performance there were a couple of stinkers, I think over 10 rounds Bruno beats him on points personally. Hide probably doesn't make it out of the first round.

Haye-Fury, not least because Haye was a heavy favourite with the bookies and I was going to bet big on Fury.

I also remember being deeply disappointed when Terry Marsh had his licence revoked by the board as negotiations for him to fight Hector Camacho in London were supposedly at a fairly advanced stage.

Had a ticket for Tyson-Bruno when it was originally scheduled for Wembley in October '88. Tyson drove his car into a tree and the fight ended up in Vegas four months later

- Don't remember Pryor/Leonard ever being scheduled.

Some good obvious selections so far, but in chronological order, 3 of the biggest most disappointing canceled fight of their eras would be Dempsey/Wills, canceled 2-3x, Wilt/Ali, canceled 3x, and Vitali/Lewis, one cancellation turning to be permanant.

Neither Dempsey or Wills can be blamed, but I blame Ali and Lewis for their cancelled fights and blame Leonard for not fighting Pryor after leading him and the public to believe he would.

Guerrero vs. Maidana (would have been a decent scrap) not overly disappointed..

Of the last few years, definitely Haye-Fury because even at that stage I believe Fury would have won and shown he was "the goods" earlier than he did.

Klitschko-Rahman, for the WBC strap, then Vitali retired for four years. Had he not had the back problems he'd of probably had a Lewis-like reign, if not like Larry Holmes.

Speaking of the Easton Assassin his fight with Gerrie Coetzee is still a big "What if?" in my mind, and so is Cooney-Weaver.

when Jimmy Ellis was WBA Heavyweight Champion (1967-70), he had 3 title matches fall through, The fights were with Henry Cooper, Bob Cleroux, and Greg Peralta. Those matches could have been interesting, IMO. I think that Ellis probably would have won those bouts.

Good mention. I think he would have won all three as well. Cleroux probably would have been the most interesting.
