As for why, who knows? Sam has done everything. No need to prove anything to anyone. No disrespect to Wes, but even at 44 Sam probably has enough to win this bout. Is his name big enough on the world scene to earn another title shot ??

to be fair hes only lost at a pretty good level and he shouldve gotten the decision vs wade. and the ukranian guy who stopped him is really solid. i think at this point its fine him facing domestic opponents like capper. think its at least worth seeing if hes still got it at this level.

if he gets beaten up then pack it in. also its not really much of a comeback as hes fought at least once a year going back to his debut in 1997

also to me it seems like his knees are the biggest problems. its not so much that hes slowing in most areas as it is the knee (or whatever part of his leg it is) just seems to give out fast when hes under pressure. but im not sure if guys like capper will put him in that spot

No.
The IBF title will belong to the winner of the upcoming Canelo/GGG fight.
Regardless of who wins the network is not going to bankroll a title defense against a mid-40's opponent with double digit losses.
That intercontinental title will get him a high ranking but the only way Sam gets another shot at the IBF world title is if the belt becomes vacant.

Soliman & Capper are contesting vacant IBF International......not Intercontinental, which existed when I was in nappies

Doesn't matter which regional/ stepping stone title is on the line it won't give them a realistic chance at an IBF world title shot anytime soon.

Why is Soliman still fighting?
Consider this: when you ask him to stop fighting you are asking him to stop being the only thing he ever has been.
That's a tough ask.

I remember Soliman from his days fighting in the UK, causing a lot of trouble for decent domestic fighters like Neville Brown and Cornelius Carr. Only Howard Eastman was too good for him, and I think at the time Sam regarded Eastman as his toughest ever opponent. Soliman just seemed like a super fit guy who was hard to ever beat on points. All those fights were around 18 yea s ago. I think it's very poor that Soliman is getting licenced to box at 44 years of age. I suspect the doctors are closing their eyes to what must be fairly obvious deterioration in his neurological state.

He's hardly going up against the murders row.

Bugner and Mirovic was/is nearly 50 and still fighting..... and they were matched accordingly.....

If he passes all the medicals good luck to him...... he's probably taken less punishment in more fights than a lot of younger fighters out there....

This is very true. His knees seem to be the main issue. He is usually much fitter than his opponents and his awkward style makes him hard to hit. Without researching i can only think of Choc really hurting him. Is there any talk of a possible Soliman v Geale match up down the track? There must be some sort of carrot being dangled for Soliman to be fighting.

It not just bad loses, the bulk of Soliman's fights go the distance in better company. He's taken a huge amount of punches in sparring and fights, and it's just silly to be still fighting in middle age.

go and train young kids or something to keep busy instead.

His life I suppose maybe he has been ripped off or something.

there would be enough to make a reasonable payday for both of surely.

Soliman-Mundine did get a mention some time back. Not sure why things didn't progress then? But they might not progress now either.

I dare say Mundine-Soliman would sell better than Mundine-Browne.

The ending isn't going quite to script for Sam Soliman, unfortunately.

Despite knocking Wes Capper down, albeit briefly, in the 2nd round, Sam could only convince one of the judges he did enough to win the fight 114-113. The other two judges had it even at 114-114.

A head clash in the 4th round succeeded in busting up one of Capper's eyes, but his corner were able to control it enough for the fight to go the distance.

Majority draw.

singhs been on a good run of form, he might be too much for sam now
