how does being fat effect stamina/fat guys with good stamina

serious question. i dont know body stuff. someone mentioned that fatty adam kownacki actually is really fit when a lot of others say based on his apperance that hes out of shape.
so, if a guy does all his running and cardio training, but simply overeats and as a result gets puffy, will he still get all the benefits of that stamina training.
maybe exhausted fat guys are fat because they didnt put the work in, whereas there seems to be some fat guys who actually have okay cardio. maybe the just love food
btw there is a training section here but it hardly gets any traffic so i posted here

Haye used to fight at a fair old pace as a cruiser, but he's now older, heavier, and mostly punching heavier opponents. Instead of throwing combos as a matter of routine like Holyfield, he tends to wait for the reaction to every big shot he lands to avoid blowing himself out. Generally, that's because he has to put more into his shots — he has to work harder to compensate for his relative lack of size, else he'd be in danger of being outworked if he didn't have his opponents' respect.
The problem with gauging a fat guy's engine is that it's not always apparent how much he's putting behind his shots. Miller's really busy for his size, but how often does he load up? A lot of his work uses his weight to save energy. Tyson Fury has the advantage of almost everyone having to chase him, making his arm-punches effective in a way that most men who fight comparable opponents can't get away with.
I'd hazard a guess that Toney was pretty unfit towards the end of his career, but he was a master of conserving energy.

If you run up a hill carrying a pack with 10kg in it, you have to work harder to get to the top.
So, guys (and we are really only talking heavyweights) carrying fat, who train properly on the cardio side of things do OK. It's the same for the muscly guys. I think AJ would do better coming in lighter.
The problem for both fat and heavily muscled fighters doing big cardio sessions is the extra punishment of the joints.

It's possible to be in good shape while carrying fat, however it's still weight you need to carry. Guys like Andy Ruiz are examples, you also often see them in kickboxing.

Someone brought up Tyson Fury. Think about it:-
1. He is an incredibly relaxed boxer, which is what all boxers should be but many are not. Being relaxed, rather than tensing up and trying to take your opponent's head off with every shot, makes it far easier to do the rounds.
2. He is used to carting around 25 stone plus so when he comes into the ring at 18 stone odd, he's going to feel the benefits irrespective of whether he's still a bit fleshy or not.

Tyson Fury got another advantage and that's that he got no muscles, so he never get's out of breath.

Its all about being a bit relative here - when has Fury ever thrown a hundred punches a round. The Klitchsko and Chisora fights were not exactly Ali vs Frazier were they.

This was what I was going to say. Huge factor in stamina and too often overlooked

Moving as much as he did bs Wlad takes a lot of stamina regardless of punch output when you're 18st

When Fury has been made to work, he's blowing out of his arse after about 5 rounds. Watch the Cunningham fight. Haye, likewise, had notably poor stamina even as a cruiser; the Mormeck fight was notable because he managed to measure his activity and be useful in the later rounds rather than washed up. You can be fat and fit, but it's all extra weight that your muscles and heart are having to work to move around, ergo you'd have better stamina if you were lighter and just as fit.

Muscle weighs heavier than fat. So they are carrying a greater weight as it were.
The difference is, muscles that are well developed are necessary for fighting and good athletic fitness. Flab and fat in general is not a necessity, it's just excess baggage.

As excess muscle is useless, the punching muscle is long, sinewy and fast twitch

That extra fat can also help absorb some of the power from opponents punches and so help with punch resistance. That extra weight can also help if there is pushing going on. It can also increase punching power. Here is MMA related video about the subject.
So having extra weight can have its advantages but it will take its toll on your stamina.
Big muscles use huge amounts of oxygen. Boxers like Joshua, Wlad and Haye always need to make sure they don't overextend them self in a fight. Wlad did that mistake against Puritty. So there is down side to having big muscles too.
In my opinion Vitali had pretty close ideal body shape for big guy. He had enough of power and strength combined with good stamina.

I remember the first time I became aware of this was when Frank Bruno fought Tim Witherspoon for the world title- Bruno with his fabulous chiseled physique and Witherspoon looking quite flabby- yet Witherspoon looked as though he could go the full 15 before stopping Bruno in the eleventh

Theres a HW who posts on here, Chauncy Welliver, he's 6'2" but heavy (350lb in his last fight) but he often goes the distance. I remember him saying in one post that he's better the heavier he is.

At British level I thought John mcdermott was a good example. Many thought he out worked Fury in their first fight. Not sure of some guys looks are deceiving or they pick the shots and reserve energy a bit more
