I've got Prograis by decision...what's your pick?

Bit of a tough break for Prograis. I reckon Indongo is a far greater threat than Postol who is a spent force for my money. Indongo proved against Ricky Burns that he possesses a good deal of technical knowhow to go with the knockout power that he demonstrated in no uncertain terms against Troyanovsky. Prograis, however, does have the advantage of having not had to endure a schooling from Crawford. Add to that the impressive manner of his victory over the previously unbeaten Joel Diaz and I would have to agree that Regis is the smart money pick for this one. In fact, I think he could get it done inside schedule, breaking Julius up in the championship rounds and taking him out in 11 or maybe seconds into the last.

i really like reeg and will go for him

indongdo still bit of a mystery for me. had two pretty good wins for belts, but then destroyed by craw in a way that even craw doesnt usually destroy ppl. indongo looked mentally defeated just going into that fight

now prograis as good as i think he is is no crawford. but will indongdo still be the same guy having suffered a loss like that? i dont mean physically, because it wasnt a gruelling long fight, more like maybe his mindset is less confident now. and we see him fighting more curled up and gun shy and caving in when it gets tough.

If Reggie or his handlers watch tapes of the Crawford-Indongo fight and bang Indongo's long, slender body the same way TC did, they could wear him down enough to sweep the later rounds or even get the late stoppage.

This should provide a good picture of how much that Crawford beatdown took out of Indongo. If Julius has recovered from that, he's got a legit chance to beat Prograis, probably by decision.

I'm actually surprised Indongo was even able to get a belt. That was probably one of the weakest undisputed fights. Prograis will win this one easy. Postol would've been a better fight.

Either guy would've been good, though. Just shows you how weak the division was when Crawford cleaned it out is all. Taylor, Prograis, and Jose Ramirez are looking like they'll be top dudes soon with Mikey at the top. Division is looking like it'll be strong here in a few years.

Orozco has been looking good since his "win", really a loss, to Humberto Soto. Mario Barrios, Alex Saucedo, and Koki Inoue are prospects that might shake things up too.

I think most folk were surpised when Indongo won a world title by icing Troyanovsky inside a round. The same Troyanovsky who forced Cesar Rene Cuenca to quit not once but twice. The same Cuenca who was 48-0 going into the first of those two fights and had totally schooled the previously indestructable Ik Yang.

You make a valid point about Crawford. Had he hit the scene just a few years earlier, I am sure 'Bud' would have found the 140 pound versions of Tim Bradley, Marcos Maidana and Danny Garcia a helluva lot tougher to overcome than Burns, Postol and Indongo. I do rate Crawford as one of the best talents in the business right now though. His place in history depends on him proving himself at 147 against the likes of Garcia, Thurman and the current Welterweight yardstick that is Errol Spence.

Nice! Looks like Prograis is determined to take a step up. I think he's the goods, and will be able to take Indongo. You can't look past Indongo though. He's a solid fighter.

Cuenca was one of boxing's inside jokes. Same Troyanovsky that was very unproven at the top when Indongo beat him. Burns has been horrifically shot for a long time now.

Not saying Crawford isn't legit, but he became undisputed in a weak 140 lb. division. Prograis will likely show it by destroying Indongo.

Agreed. Some are writing off Indongo, but unless the TC beating took too much out of him I think Indongo has a legit shot vs Prograis, but Reggie is a clear favorite in my eyes.

Looks like Prograis is the unanimous pick so far...let's see how the late votes swing.

Either way it's a big step up for the unbeaten super lightweight and this should provide a good measure of his progress, especially if the Crawford loss didnt take too much out of Indongo.

He didn't take a "beating" against Crawford. It was basically just one particularly hard body shot that did him in. He's probably taken more physical damage in 12 round fights where he's won actually. Not to say that it wasn't a legit KO or anything, I'm just saying he didn't take a sustained beating, and a lot of heavy punishment. It was mainly just one big shot that did him in.

Absolutely right. The effects I'm talking about are more likely to be mental/psychological AKA a confidence-buster!!

Especially if Prograis starts off by pounding that long, slender body the same way TC did. Indongo could prove to be vulnerable to the body and his time at top-level could turn out to be short because of it. He looked great vs Troyanovsky & Burns but neither one worked the body.

This is huge step up for Prograis. I am bit surprised that so many pick him to win this. I think its pretty close to even match up with maybe small edge to the tall African. Prograis needs to find a way to negate the reach advantage of Indongo or he will waltz into easy points win. Even if he does Julius still has that punchers chance. It will not be a easy night for Regis :geek:

Good point. Add to that the fact that he had to lose 3/4 pound to make weight. He could be a little spent. Still predicting Prograis to win but I've said all along Indongo is not an easy win for Reggie. I've got Prograis by clearcut but competitive decision.

reeg destroys indongo wth 4 knockdowns in 2 rounds. was powerful calm and cool

indongo though was super wild and jittery and off balance from the start. he looked bad before reeg even did anythng. maybe one of the sloppiest unified champs ive seen.

Once he tasted Prograis' body shots Indongo was fighting scared and disoriented. Tremendous win for Reggie who should be competitive with just about any current 140-pounder besides Mikey Garcia.

I'd like to see Prograis in against the Ramirez-Iman winner or Ivan Baranchyk, who looked really good vs Petrov tonight.

Easy pick. I'm surprised so many were "wowed" by Indongo's unified status. His resume was paper-thin, and he looked absolutely horrific against Crawford. Division was just horrific when Crawford cleaned it out. Crawford's best win is probably Diaz Jr.

Troyanovksy and shot Burns aren't world-class wins.

burns and troy were decent enough wins but honestly he was pants tonght and vs craw.

and ya craws great but not even crawford usually blows guys out early In that fashion. only the j dongo man has gone down that fast.

Styles. Prograis is more defensibly vulnerable, but he looks like he has an iron chin and plods forward with heavy jabs. Indongo just isn't world class. Postol would've been a lot better, and it would've told us more about Prograis. Still, Postol and Indongo are such weak fighters. They're pretty irrelevant in the division right now.

Prograis and the Ramirez/Imam winner will be a huge fight coming up. I think Ramirez should destroy Imam, but Ramirez/Prograis is 50-50.

Looks like I (and many others) overrated Indongo, based on his sorry performance tonight. But I still think TC's best win was over Postol, who was coming off that domination of Matthysse. Diaz hasnt impressed me that much as a pro...we'll see how he does in the WW tourney.

Now that Prograis confirmed that Indongo cannot take body shots he's definitely done at top-level. Though I thought it would be a more competitive fight I knew if Prograis followed Crawford's body-banging strategy he would win sooner or later against the long, lean Indongo.
