Losing to Floyd twice gets you more money than beating other top guys.

Give the guy a break. Maidana grew up poor as hell and the only way to get out was to fight. He never really loved the sport but used it to amass millions of dollars. Now he's living a fat life never needing to work another day in his life. I'd like to see how some of you would respond to that kind of life trajectory. Get Fat Marcos, you've earned it.

Tyson Fury did just the same thing as Maidana did. could you imagine Maidana back to the sport and be on top once again? i don't, and i don't except it from Fury as well

I remember Thurman calling him out in 2015 and I thought at the time that Maidana would take him up on it. It's a fight I would like to have seen. 'El Chino' would have taken 'one time' places he'd never been before and, in truth, probably still never has been taken.
Also a shame Marcos and Lucas Matthysse never fought each other. Would have been the biggest fight ever in Argentina.

Maidana is happy and apparently living a very modest lifestyle. As long as he's healthy, then I'm pleased that he's enjoying his retirement.

Glad to read the 'modest lifestyle' bit. My one concern for Maidana was that he would blow all his dough and be forced into fighting again. Let's face it, he would have a helluva job getting back into decent shape judging from these pics

if you look objectively, marcos did not
achieve that much, but he did it in such
straight fashion, that everybody just loves
him. in a day and age of soundbites, this silent
man doing his thing rings a bell with people,
certainly does with me.

grats for having made enough to have a
good live. stay out of the ring, nothing to prove.

Love the pic. I was always a huge fan of Maidana. Glad to see him living it up and enjoying his life. This is what you put the work in in this sport for. If you want to just chill out and have a cigar, and a drink once the music's over you've certainly earned it, and he has.

I know he's got a few fighters down in Argentina he has a hand in managing or promoting I believe. I hope to see some success from those guys in the future.
