Who do you consider having the better chin / punch resistance?
Wladimir Klitschko's left hook is more powerful than his straight right hand and Povetkin managed to survive Klitschko's left hook by getting up immediately.bigman1968 wrote: ↑24 Feb 2018, 07:57 Povetkin catch averything his opponent punch with his face, since he do not block and have no head movement. So his durability is well known.
When he got hit by Klitchko he went down, but Klitchko didn’t hit him hard...It is very arguable if Povetkin could survive the strate right that hit Joshua.
Even with the hispanicized user name, there's no escaping justice when inspector jamamb is on the case
The left hook is what shook AJ in the first place after going to gung-ho hours following the first knockdown.Luis Fernando12 wrote: ↑24 Feb 2018, 08:13Wladimir Klitschko's left hook is more powerful than his straight right hand and Povetkin managed to survive Klitschko's left hook by getting up immediately.bigman1968 wrote: ↑24 Feb 2018, 07:57 Povetkin catch averything his opponent punch with his face, since he do not block and have no head movement. And Wladimir Klitschko landed many flush right hands on Povetkin as well.
But Klitschko's left hook that floored Povetkin was very short, it didn't have the same leverage as his left hook against Pulev. And the right hand he landed on Joshua's chin in the sixth round was one of the best he ever throw.Luis Fernando12 wrote: ↑24 Feb 2018, 08:13Wladimir Klitschko's left hook is more powerful than his straight right hand and Povetkin managed to survive Klitschko's left hook by getting up immediately.bigman1968 wrote: ↑24 Feb 2018, 07:57 Povetkin catch averything his opponent punch with his face, since he do not block and have no head movement. I advice you to go and watch Wladimir Klitschko's knockout over Eddie Chambers where he puts Chambers to sleep / an unconsciousness state for at least 3 minutes with a similar looking left hook. Wladimir Klitschko's left hook doesn't look like much or look very powerful. But even when they don't look very powerful. they still can inflict extreme damage.Boxing Writer wrote: ↑24 Feb 2018, 15:54But Klitschko's left hook that floored Povetkin was very short, it didn't have the same leverage as his left hook against Pulev. I think Wladimir Klitschko's timing on the left hook wasn't as good as it was against Alexander Povetkin and especially against Kubrat Pulev. Age and ring rust had to play a part in my opinion. He tried launching the left hook like he did against Pulev, but the timing wasn't there against Joshua.Yes We Can wrote: ↑24 Feb 2018, 15:43The left hook is what shook AJ in the first place after going to gung-ho hours following the first knockdown.Luis Fernando12 wrote: ↑24 Feb 2018, 08:13Wladimir Klitschko's left hook is more powerful than his straight right hand and Povetkin managed to survive Klitschko's left hook by getting up immediately.bigman1968 wrote: ↑24 Feb 2018, 07:57 Povetkin catch averything his opponent punch with his face, since he do not block and have no head movement. I'm massively impressed with Joshua's chin. He can't hide being hurt very well, but his chin and recovery appears excellent.
I rated even. Both are sturdy as can be.
Neither Heavyweight was hit with Klitschko's best shot... A "best shot" is when you load and throw with all your strength -- and you hit chin on the button... The Rahman right hand that nailed Lennox Lewis was pretty close to a "best shot" -- possibly the best punch Rahman ever landed... He's not a great puncher and that shot made his career, but he was exposed in the rematch as not a very good boxer either...Luis Fernando12 wrote: ↑24 Feb 2018, 08:13Wladimir Klitschko's left hook is more powerful than his straight right hand and Povetkin managed to survive Klitschko's left hook by getting up immediately.bigman1968 wrote: ↑24 Feb 2018, 07:57 Povetkin catch averything his opponent punch with his face, since he do not block and have no head movement. Both Joshua and Povetkin are very good boxers... Povetkin got better after the Klitschko fight... He trained a lot harder and with greater intensity because he had a measuring stick... He knew how far he had to go to be the best... However he was already 34 at that time, only 3 years younger than K... Joshua underrated Klitschko a little bit... He went hard for the early finish and didn't get it... AJ wasn't exhausted... He got hit because he was slipping the jab with ease and focusing too much on K's jab - when the right hand came.. I didn't think he was in extreme danger or would lose the fight.. He talked to Klitschko to distract him,... He slipped and ducked many of Wlad's follow up efforts and absorbed some of them... and then he worked his way back into the fight like a veteran of 50 fights might do.
The chin is not going to make or break these 2 guys... They don't get hit a lot as it is... Nobody is going to knock them out.. The important thing that will make them is increasing their skills until they leave everybody else miles behind... For Povetkin, the horse had already left the barn... Because of his age he's not going to get a lot better... AJ can still get better and I believe that's what he's the most focused on -- being recognized as the best Heavyweight ever.
Tiny Povetkin (or anybody else his size) isn't suited for the modern heavyweight division. Too small, too weak, too fragile and so forth so on. There'll never be another boxer shorter than 6 foot 4 inches that is going to be a dominant number 1 world heavyweight champion. That's a guarantee! I'll bet my life on this.marvelous marv wrote: ↑27 Feb 2018, 19:45 I think AJ's chin is ok. His conditioning may be the concern. Gassing out in the later rounds could lead to a knock down.
Povetkin was knocked down by a Wlad jab early the fight. Wlad allegedly helped him manage to stay on his feet until the end of the fight so as not to embarrass him.
