Several reports Stateside have now confirmed this is indeed the case as Lomachenko bids for a third-weight world title on the back of turning pro at featherweight.

Fight to look forward to. Once Loma takes a look and figures Linares out he'll go to work and stop him. Linares is lovely to watch and a top fighter but after a long career going up through the weights he's looked to have been slightly on the slide recently especially in spells against Campbell.

I have a feeling Linares will want to finish the fight and not retire..

Should be a big crowd. Week after Canelo Golovkin so that might help

Linares is getting hammered here. No way does he make it to the final bell, terrible matchup for him.

Linares is a quality boxer but does not have the beating of chenko

Linares deserves the payday / recognition - but he's not going to win. Luke Campbell, Anthony Crolla (first time) and Kevin Mitchell all held their own against him and won rounds.

Chenko is a different breed

According to a Los Angeles Times report Tuesday, Arum’s Top Rank Inc. (Lomachenko) and De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions (Linares) have come to an agreement for Lomachenko to challenge Linares for the Venezuelan’s WBA lightweight title May 12 at Madison Square Garden in New York. They struck a deal, according to the Los Angeles Times, because ESPN agreed to air the telecast headlined by Lomachenko-Linares at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, so that it won’t be broadcast at the same time as HBO’s replay that night of the Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin middleweight championship rematch.

HBO also is expected to a televise a live fight May 12, along with the Alvarez-Golovkin replay. Due to its earlier start time on ESPN, the Linares-Lomachenko telecast is expected to end before HBO’s broadcast begins May 12.

De La Hoya initially indicated Linares (44-3, 27 KOs) gladly would fight Lomachenko, just not the night of May 12, due to the television scheduling conflict. Top Rank reportedly offered Linares, 32, a career-high purse to defend his title against Lomachenko, which was among the reasons Linares wanted to take it.

Chenko is on a different level, Linares is quality himself , but there's only one winner here

Loma wins this fight at a canter. Don't think he will have to get out of 2nd gear, this is the same Linares that was run close by Kevin Mitchell and recently Luke Campbell put in a good showing against him. You need better form than that to trouble Loma (a lot better).

Good to see Linares getting a good payday.
Can see Loma figuring him out then stopping him late.

I think Linares beat Crolla comfortably in their first fight and there really was no need for the rematch to watch that again. Crolla had 2 cards making it close which should never of been. A bit like the 2 judges who scored froch vs ward as being a close fight

i actually had him beating campbell 116-111, so not really close, but apparently a lot of ppl thought it was close.

Crolla 1 was close but clear decision for Linares..

Crolla 2 was dominate/wide for Linares.

Campbell was was close but clear for Linares.

i weren't saying that I thought Campbell won the fight or even that it was close on the cards, just that Campbell didn't look out of place in there. I think when linares steps in against Loma he will look out of place in there and very early on. That's not discrediting Linares it's just that Loma is that good

Chenko is in a class of his own

It’s interesting at least in that Linares has some good variety and agility, to give lomachenko something to think about. Good that a stiff plodder is not fighting one of boxing’s huge talents,
