- This is Mike in the middle of his best years. Jimmy Jacobs is still alive and save for Cus his all time HOF team is still intact and he's not contaminated with tattoos. He looks to be in England both giving and receiving immaculate respect as he talks with an elder boxing "expert" with his well spoken intellect showing far more knowledge of boxing than any of his peers, and he's only 21 year old.

We can almost see the specter of Cus beaming in pride behind him knowing Mike was the most formidably trained heavyweight in history. He was a genius in taking a two bit street kid thug with no parental supervision and highly developed his abused and neglected mental, physical, and spiritual qualities which is why he was so popular with the larger American public as a salvaged wreck being made more than whole but as a part of their pantheon of legends.

DKing and Robin Givens and her witchy mom are still waiting in the wings to kick off his terrible tragedy. By the time they unhooked their claws, he had lost all his savings and an estimated $50 million trust fund set aside for his retirement and serving time on bogus rape charges King arranged to get legal control over his assets.

The fire that got him to the top also led him to his downfall.

People forget what a historian Tyson is. I wonder if he still has Cus' film collection.

One thing I agreed with Tyson and I know he got this from Cus D'Amato because Cus defended Liston at hearings -- but to no avail... Tyson said Ali-Liston 2 was not over and Walcott should have made sure the fight continued...

Tyson blamed Nat Fleischer and Walcott for the fck up... The neutral corner rule dictated a suspended count.

That is correct, Walcott was inept and why he felt the need to pay any attention to Fleischer shows that he was ill equipped to deal with the situation. The count should have stopped, allowing Liston to get up and either get slapped around with ease as he had through most of his and Ali's time together, or to find another comfy spot on the canvas to rest his head on.

I remember this program, Tyson apparently asked Harry Carpenter for his autograph afterwards.

Liston wasn't intent on finding a soft spot to rest his head... He wanted to win very badly... His plan was to have Ali waste a lot of energy and get him in the late rounds... The way Ali was burning energy it might have worked... Liston was old, but a great Heavyweight... No reason in the world why he still couldn't be competitive with Ali if he avoided an injury... The way Liston slipped and ducked all of Ali's follow up punches following the knock down show his reflexes were intact.

Yeah any rational person can see that.
