In amateurs, this man was absolute beast. Not so convincing as a pro, but still can give some good fights. I saw interview on youtube he should have some fights in 2018. Any news? :box: :box: :box:

Korobov parted ways with Top Rank, because they couldn't arrange fights for him and Arum's 168lbs world champion didn't want to face him, I think due to the same injury that prevented Ramirez from entering the WBSS, not that Bob would have allowed him to anyway.

Who knows what Matt is up to nowadays?

hes pretty much done id think

hes 35 now and was always moving slow. and then as soon as he got momentum he was ko'd, and then has done pretty much nothing since.. ppl here were saying he shouldve been in the wbss and that was the first id heard anyone mention him for a while.

he was indeed a very good amateur, and he didnt have a slappy point scoring style either. he was hurting, dropping, and beating guys up and boxing very well. i cant imagine anyone who saw him throughout the ams is satisfied with how his pro career has been.

I think it is too late for him.

I'm thinking that as well.

Bob Arum wouldn't have released Korobov from his contract with Top Rank (without the need to agree a settlement figure) if he thought his figher had the capability to become a world champion and headline some of his ESPN fight cards.

Allegedly Sauerland.

Then easy fights to make would be Zeuge and Nielsen, but I doubt Sauerland will want them humiliated by Korobov.

Doesn't really matter if he does or doesn't.

Best case scenario he builds himself back into a position to be the B side in a marquee match which he'd lose.

If he had come right back and gotten right back on the horse following the Andy Lee fight I might've thought there was some hope for him and his career, but he essentially just seemed to lose all of his drive to be a serious fighter after the Andy Lee loss.

You are probably right, but on the other hand, he wasn't given an opportunity to be a serious fighter after the Andy Lee loss.

There's gotta be a reason for that though. A lack of motivation in his training or something that somebody saw that made them lose interest in promoting him.

He had won all the rounds against Andy prior to getting caught and knocked out so the Andy Lee loss in and of itself wasn't embarrassing really because we all know Andy can crack, and had a bit of that "Comeback Kid" aura about him in his fights.

I'd expect there's some sort of other factor that the people that back him are seeing that we're not that's made them hesitant to invest any further in him.

Just checked it out & the only show in Miami tonight doesnt have Matt listed, unless he is one of the "TBA" guys:

Hope you are right & this list is wrong. I'd like to see him back.

Matt Korobov did indeed fight Sat night in Miami, winning a 6-round decision over Jonathan Batista. Good to see him back in action after a 16-month layoff.

That specific win in Miami actually threw him back in to the latest rankings from IBF at number 15 (super middleweight).

It's good to see Korobov back in the ring, but I find it strange, that a 6 round decision win over a 16-12 fighter, who is ranked 675 by BoxRec (at super welterweight) can get you straight back in to the top 15 of IBF. It was his first fight in 15 months.

I'm speechless and feel sorry for all the guys, who deserved that spot so much more.
