Why do boxers have to be suspended at all for taking steroids? That hurts the game even more. Public shame is damage enough right now. Canelo will be fighting for his reputation for the rest of his life now and that's just fine with me. Let's fine him and test him 3Xs more than other boxers going forward but I think suspension should be avoided for first time offenders.

..as naive as I am, I think alphabets and all parties concerned must agree on the same rules which should be something like: 1-2 years for the first-time offender, second-time offenders should be banned for life...no tainted-meat-wild-boar-bull-sh*t excuses..

I’d very much like the fight to go ahead so I wouldn’t really want to see Canelo suspended (yeah, I know it’s not a very principled stance, but whatever). Can’t they just deduct half his purse and test him like every 2 days until fight night?

2 years ban would mean that some people would not make some big money from gingerboy's fights and his stocks would drop severely, but it sounds fair if he's proven a cheat.

What has the world of boxing come to? It is a sad state of affairs when commissions may allow a cheat to fight because he brings money to the sport but for fans to think it is ok for a juiced up fighter to punch another man in the head is very sad to read on here. Boxers die in the ring as evidenced a few weeks ago in the UK. Boxing may look like entertainment to some so called fans but this is the hurting business and guys with unfair illegal advantages should be banned and made pariahs. A cheat is a cheat and should be shown the door, not given the keys to wealth and fortune.

Im convinced that Ggg will stop canelo - so i would rather see the fight.
As for the rules/suspension - there is a much bigger question at play here in regard to the wider rules of how professional fighters behave when they are not under contract to fight.
Is it even against the rules for inactive fighters to take banned substances? They aren't tested - so why wouldn't they?
Canelo got 4 untested months after the first fight. Why would he NOT use substances in that period to help him get better results in the gym during that time?
Imo any fighter with an active licence to fight should have to comply with olympic style testing 24/7, 365.

Great post and this really should be the bottom line. F how much the fight makes or how much fans want to see it. I personally don't like the fight because I'm a GGG fan and I know that i'm just going to get frustrated like i was in the first robbery. Then i'm going to have to see Oscar's stupid smiling moon face in the ring after fixing another one for Canelo. I swear that guy is our present day Don King.
The fight should have been postponed the second the second test came back positive.

I'd like to think so, but I think it's another distance fight. Canelo holds a shot well, and he's not going to stand there allowing GGG to tee off on him.
I think there's a chance of a stoppage if GGG can keep Canelo working, because clearly Canelo can't fight at a sustained pace at all.
If you think Alvarez should get hate for this you dont know boxing or professional sports at all
