Has anyone seen Booker box, is he capable of pulling an upset?

Not unless he gets very lucky. Fast hands, decent power, but not in Toney's class.

I watched him vs Grant and thought that he looked useful, but that the top guys at cruiser would handle him comfortably. Unless Toney comes in looking fat, lazy or old I think you'd have to put your money on him. Booker's only a young'un though. A good performance against Toney might do him wonders. I haven't seen him at heavy. Does he look fat? could he go back down to cruiser?

well i put down Toney to win on points on the prediction league, so hopefully there won't be a upset.

I wonder what sort of odds i could get on Toney being all three?

Booker looks fat as a *cruiser*, to say nothing of heavyweight. At least Toney has enough muscle on him that even svelte he'd be weighing around 200+ lbs. theses days, i.e. he's not just a blubbery light-heavy like Booker is.

Only chance for Booker to win this is if Toney re-injures himself.

I don't remember Booker looking proper fat at Cruiser. A bit chunky and no prime physical specimen maybe, but I thought he carried the weight alright. He's 6'3" so he'd have to be even more streamlined than Tarver to be a light heavy. Then again, it was about 18 months ago that I last saw him. Maybe I'll dig the tape out.

Looks as if it was fun at the weigh in, twisted ankle for Booker.

Unless Toney injures himself or Booker's post-weighin ankle twist prevents him from fighting, Booker will get broken down and taken out in brutal fashion. I originally said mid-to-late round KO, but after the weigh-in spat I say early-to-mid. Toney could use the rounds, but with his experience and amount of sparring he does, letting Booker live a few rounds less will likely seem worth it in order to make a statement.

Official prediction: Toney KO6 Booker.

Please...it was an open-handed push. All Booker wanted to do was kiss Toney on those big lips of his...nothing wrong with that...

The good news is: Toney's achilles looks fully healed. The bad news is: even though Toney clearly dominated the action, Booker, who would be considered light-hitting at 175, was able to tag Toney repeatedly with clean left jooks and straight rights (although Fox's "highlights" didn't show any of that, only Toney's best connects). Also, Booker's jab is pathetically weak so Toney was able to be in his wheelhouse all night, but still couldn't take him out. If that were a hard jab from a monster like Klitschko and rights and lefts from a guy with real heavyweight power, Toney wouldn't have been grinning for long.

Lastly, Toney's vaunted cross-arm defense and shoulder-roll punch slipping didn't impress me all that much. Booker showed that a guy with quick hands and reach (and especially one who is punching down) will be able connect to the head repeatedly. If Toney has to raise his hands to defend against hard shots coming down on him, he loses much of his vision and leaves his gut open - Booker landed a few hard body shots when he tried to, he just rarely tried to do so.

Comments on the Fox BDSSP team:

- I wonder how many lines of coke Tom Arnold snorts prior to a typical show. Hell, I wonder how many lines he does during a typical commercial break.

- Chris Byrd needs to cut back on the magic self-delusional mushrooms ("I am the best heavyweight in thevworld...")

- The only thing I liked about Max Kellerman was that he didn't kiss up to Byrd.

- Where was Sean O'Grady? Oh wait, having him at ringside would mean one person who actually knows something about boxing and isn't there to hype himself. That's way too many.

God dammit puleeeez...

It looks like a punch on that clip, although if you slow it down maybe.. yeah it could be a shove. Still nasty. Which is good.

it was a shove.

for those who didn't spot this on the current scene forum:
