Andrade ready to step in and fight Golovkin

Philadelphia, PA /White Plains, NY (March 26, 2018) -- Undefeated, two-time world champion Demetrius Andrade (25-0, 16 KOs) is ready and available for a showdown with unified middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, should Canelo Alvarez not be cleared by the Nevada State Athletic Commission on April 10th for his May 5th rematch with Golovkin.
Andrade, who is ranked number 1 by the WBO in the middleweight division, feels that if Alvarez is not cleared by the commission for his recent positive test for Clenbuterol, he would be the most obvious candidate to face Golovkin.
"I am ready, willing and able to step to the plate on May 5th to fight Golovkin," stated Andrade. "I am always in the gym, and I will start VADA testing right now. I guarantee that I will pass all the tests. I know other fighters can't say the same thing. I am undefeated, and a two-time world champion. Golovkin went through a period where nobody wanted to fight him. I am that guy now. The man nobody wants to fight. Everyone says what does Demetrius Andrade bring to the table? Besides being the best American middleweight, and one of the top 3 middleweights in the world, everyone knows who I am, and the know how good I am. My question is to those who say that I don't bring anything to the table. What did Murray, Adama, Geale, Monroe and Rosado bring to the table? None of the top contenders want to fight me so I believe that if Canelo is unavailable for May 5th, I want the opportunity to face Golovkin for the unified middleweight championship of the world."
Golovkin's Promoter Tom Loeffler stated after Alvarez was temporarily suspended that his fighter will still compete on May 5th with or without Alvarez.
"Whatever the commission does, Gennady would still fight May 5th if Canelo is out," he said. "If for some reason it's not against Canelo, we'll figure out the best course of action at that time, but he is training to fight May 5th.", Loeffler told Dan Rafael of ESPN.com
Like Golovkin, Andrade is also in the gym, and will be ready should he get the call for May 5th.

Who is Andrade? Has he defeated any top 20 MW? If not the urgency, he would probably be a choice #6 for GGG behind
BJS
Charlo
Murata
Derevo
Jacobs

It was only a few months ago when Andrade said he wasn't physically ready to face Billy Joe Saunders yet, because he felt he needed time to grow into his new 160lbs weight class.
And now that an opportunity has become available to earn a tonne of dough, he's suddenly volunteered himself as being willing to become GGG's next opponent?
I guess money really is persuasive enough change opinions!

Trying to duck Derevyanchenko. Supposedly, they're supposed to be fighting at some point. I guess Andrade don't want that work, though.

Sure takes the steam out of the card. I don't see how GGG gives Canelo another chance. (unless the money is insane)

Jumping at the chance for the payday/exposure of a LIFETIME is hardly ducking ANYONE!! You don't duck someone by facing someone tougher.

Yes, you do. Losing to Derevo would seriously damage his standing, while losing to GGG is expected and can even raise his standing if he lasts 12 rounds.

Given the payday AND the opportunity, ANY ambitious fighter would do the same thing.
I'm actually surprised that numerous boxers havent made the same offer!!. Those who see this as a chance to blast Andrade for making a very ambitious move are probably major critics of the guy. Although I cant afford to waste time by looking up what you or Mexi-Box might have said about Andrade in the past, I think it's pretty safe to say that both of you have probably been major critics in the past.

If in some snowballs chance in hell the Alvarez/GGG fight gets canceled, a GGG/Andrade fight is a hell of a alternative. I think Andrade could hang with GGG, I wouldn't expect Andrade to win, but he has some nice tools to trouble GGG. But just like the big fight getting canceled, there isn't a chance in hell Andrade gets a shot at GGG, they'll feed GGG a tomato can and wait for Canelos ban to be lifted. Too much money on the table and GGG isn't about to take that kind of risk to jeopardize a career high pay day.

My thoughts too. I like G. Can't stand Andrade. But the man is uber skilled. And I feel G is on the slide. I actually think Andrade wouls win.

Andrade just seems so weak on his legs, I doubt he could really bang with any MW heavy hitter.

Golovkin is 36 not 46... He'll beat the living crap out of Andrade if they fight.

Derevyanchenko is a young, prime lion. I think Derevyanchenko beats GGG, so I don't think there really is much saying GGG is better. Andrade gets KO'd and he still gets exposure. A loss to Derevyanchenko sets his career back.

Who wouldn't be. We're talking about the guy that looked like crap against Jack Culcay.

It would make sense for GGG to have a back up fight lined up as we still don't know what is happening with Canelo.
Not many will be willing to take it at short notice so if Andrade is up for it, I see no reason why he shouldn't get the shot.
I see GGG beating him in about 8 rounds, but that's no worse than a lot of GGG's previous opponents have done.

The problem I have with Andrade taking this fight is his lack of self-belief, because it was only two months ago when he said he wasn’t ready to face someone like Billy Joe Saunders, due to being too small for his new weight class.
However, now that an opportunity has presented itself for Demetrius to earn a career-high pay day, he has volunteered his services to fight the "baddest" most destructive man the middleweight division has to offer.
I don’t know his personal financial situation and from a monetary perspective, I can appreciate the justification for his actions, but from a sporting and a safety viewpoint, I really hate seeing bouts between two men where one is the big punching heavy favourite, whilst the other one thinks that he’s too small and likely to lose.
How the hell are HBO supposed to sell a bout between Andrade and Golovkin, when there are several very recent YouTube videos and interview transcripts of Demetrius admitting that he’s not big enough to face the best 160lb-ers on the planet? Also, imagine what would happen if the American was to suffer a serious injury whilst facing GGG, especially considering his own words, coupled with his lack of credibility/experience at the weight?

Wanting to fight GGG so he can duck Derev?
Andrade is better than many think. I doubt if GGG will want to fight him. He has proving to do for sure, but has better over-all skills than Lara, in the opinion of Virgil Hunter. He is a south paw too, plus a height and reach advantage on most. If he is such an easy mark the top guys would want him for a tune up.

Doesn't matter if he's 36 or 46. Given their styles, and G's form as of the past couple years, I favor Andrade. I believe he would frustrate G and outpoint him to a clear ud.
This fight is too risky and doesn't bring enough $ for G to accept.

Seen a few of his fights, he is a quick southpaw with good movement who may well win a few early rounds.
But I feel GGG will slow him down with bodyshots and once he catches up to him the fight will be over pretty quickly.

Even if Andrade doesn't get the fight, he got his name out there. Got some more exposure.

Vanes was very competitive with Andrade and dropped him. He is no match for Golovkin.

beating GGG?!?
Surprising call but you could be on to something. I see him as a force at 154 and eventually 160 but dont think he's ready for the likes of GGG (or even Andrade) at this point.
