hennessey not paid singleton!

looks like hennessey hasn’t paid shane singleton for his fight against peter mcdonagh back in september claiming purse was based on tickets singleton sold not a fight purse, where Singleton claims he had a set purse. if this is true then shocking actions by mick and the board should be investigating, but after losing millions on that show does anyone find it surprising. wish the board would enforce a limit of time a promoters has to pay a fighter

and what a classy response from hennessey on twitter, obviously singleton didn’t sell as many tickets as promised because mick done nothing promoting the event.



We don’t owe @Shaynesing1 any money, it was a ticket deal and you obviously couldn’t sell as many tickets as you promised in your own back yard! You have also been paid in full by your manager.

Is there a contract ?

I don't blame folk for going off this sport. I love it to bits but promoters are dodgy bastards. I fuckin hate hearing stories like this!

Me too. Although not knowing the full story of the above, out of all the people involved the sport, the boxers are the ones that are used and abused the most.

He's right though, Hennessy is a ten bob millionairre. That show was an obvious stinker and then him closing the company afterwards means he doesn't have to honour his debts. Dodgy geezer, got to feel for the boxers who get pissed about by these promoters.

I agree.

I think that Singleton has decided to retire, and that is why he is able to speak out.

I wonder how many boxers have been in this situation but are wary of baking it public in case they don’t get any more fights.

Matchroom May have faults but they do have business ethics. I’ve never known anyone complain about non-payment of monies and, unlike Fr@nk, they haven’t closed companies causing money not to be paid to fighters.

The Hearns have always treated their fighters well, the opponents too, they have a personal touch, even if they didn't know who you are they would pretend you are like family! Eddie fits nicely into his old man shoes. I've never heard of anyone complaining about the money with them.
Back in the nineties FW was always the best payer though, he always had the sky deal, I dunno if things have changed. I always got my money in full on the night with FW, it was a cheque rather than cash though but it never bounced.

Two sides to every story! Hennessy always paid me every penny owed. If they had a ticket deal arrangement then impossible to comment without knowing the details.
