Povetkin would have knocked Whyte out. Anyway the fight doesn't have much sense now, as Whyte is considered to be WBC contender, while Povetkin - WBA and WBO.

..Povetkin is desperately running out of time and shouldn't waste it on Whyte..

So after Povetkin gets through Whyte, will Povetkin then have to face Chisora or Dave Allen or someone average like that or will Hearn actually give Joshua to Povetkin.

No wonder why Wilder's team won't take the Whyte fight. He'll probably have to face 10 British heavyweights before eventually putting Wilder v Joshua on in 2024.

Why wouldn't Povitkin take the fight?
Where else can he get that kind of payday?
Retirement looming, no time to be sitting around waiting for the big opportunity when Whyte will fill the gap until Eddie deems AJ is ready.

Why wouldn't he fight Whyte.
Eddie has other plans for AJ ( if he can get away with it) and Povitkin would be best keeping busy.

povs the mandatory, how long can that be swerved and why would they want to not fight povetkin? its a highly credibly name for aj and about one of the best that can be made, but it still should be handily in his ajs favour. and is aj planning to dump the wba /wbo belt?

for pov i assume an aj payday would be very big and at his age i imagine he may just have that final massive payday on his mind. whyte-pov would be decent but lets not make it like whytes some aj keeper who guys should be obliged to beat first if they want aj.

My thoughts on this one - Hearn seems to think that they will call the mandatory in the summer, meaning a fight being made towards the end of this year. However, the WBA have already said that a unification would take priority. It is also worth noting that Joshua's team have said all along that the aim is to become undisputed champion, but that keeping all the belts will be almost impossible. I see it going like this;

- Joshua fights Miller/Jennings in the USA in the summer
- WBA/WBO call the Povetkin mandatory
- Joshua/Wilder gets made for the end of this year, mandatory gets pushed back to 2019

At that point, if Joshua wins (a big "if"), he may decide to dump the WBA/WBO rather than go to Russia and fight whoever the WBC/IBF mandatory/#1 is instead.

It does make some sense though.
One big win for Whyte to put him in line for a rematch with AJ, something nice and easy for Hearn to make. And on the flip side, if Whyte gets beaten, then the winner gets enough exposure and credit for the win then they get the shot.
Takes big money to get AJ in the ring now, it has to come from attracting the punters

Yeah Whyte has the tendencies to look well in some fights, then sh*t in others, very inconsistent

The problem is, Whyte isn't very good.

I hate to break it to you Mickey, but the whole division isn't very good either. Whyte is actually a genuine contender. That's how good the division is right now.

I'd like this fight. I think Whyte could take him at this point. Up until a year or two ago I would've had Povetkin, but their most recent performances...I think the worm has finally turned, and Whyte's now got the edge if they were to fight.

Now may be the time that it'd be the best possible matchup it could be from a competitive standpoint actually, because regardless of who would come out on top it'd be a hard nights work getting it done.

I just think Povetkin is too good for Whyte. Such a smart fighter with power in both hands. Whyte looked his best in a loss IMO.
