More viewers were interested in Anthony Joshua’s fight against Joseph Parker than his previous appearance on Showtime.

Their heavyweight title unification fight was watched by a peak audience of 379,000 and averaged 346,000 viewers Saturday, according to ratings released Tuesday by Nielsen Media Research. Showtime’s same-day replay of Joshua-Parker from Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, drew more viewers Saturday night than the live telecast (peak: 483,000; average: 430,000).

Nielsen cannot measure how many viewers of the replay also watched the live telecast of Joshua-Parker. But between the live telecast, the replay Saturday night and replays Sunday morning, a total of 848,000 viewers watched multiple broadcasts of Joshua-Parker on Showtime.

The live broadcast of Joshua’s unanimous-decision victory over Parker, which began at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT in the United States, drew slightly better ratings than the British superstar’s prior fight. The live telecast of that bout, a 10th-round stoppage of Cameroon’s Carlos Takam on October 28 in Cardiff, averaged 334,000 viewers for Showtime.

So between 2 broadcasts those numbers suck.
It was a title unification. It should of done way over a million on one broadcast.
I'm sorry but those numbers are pathetic.

Bring Joshua to the states he should be bringing in some big bucks here.

I truly like Joshua. I just don't buy into the hype that he is an unstoppable force like so many are saying.
I hope he sticks around for a while

Yeah...we discussed that before. I had said I don't dislike AJ, I just can't stand Hearn. In another world, I'd be a fan.

Hearn is a massive asset to Boxing... He's honest... He's upfront... He pays his boxers well... He promotes their fights well

I'll take him over greedy fkkin' asswipes like Bob Arum, Don King, Oscar De La Hoya, and Al Haymon any day.

Don't want them... But in fact... I think Hearn is one small reason for the massive resurgence of Boxing is the UK.

I can't really speak to that, but now that you mention it, I began to know who he was along with those fighters making noise. But believe me, he didn't do it for boxing. cha-ching!

Absolutely right!! Just a few weeks ago AJ and Hearn were talking about how much he wanted to come to the US to fight and even targeted an August date against Jarrell Miller, but now he suddenly seems to be content to fight in Britain and building a reputation in America is no longer a priority.

http://metro.co.uk/2018/02/21/eddie-hea ... 29220/amp/
Eddie Hearn has revealed plans to match Anthony Joshua with unbeaten heavyweight Jarrell Miller in August in America.

Joshua is hoping to become the undisputed heavyweight world champion in the next 12 months and fights WBO champion Joseph Parker at the end of March.

The Brit will then want to move onto WBC champion Deontay Wilder, but Hearn has shot down hopes that heavyweight blockbuster could happen in the near future.

But, the Matchroom promoter is still planning for Joshua to make his ring debut in the US this year and is in talks with the Barclays Center in Brooklyn over AJ’s first fight in America.

He added: ‘That’s the plan… (but) we have to win on March 31st. And AJ’s not even thinking about August. It’s not like we’re overlooking Parker. It’s my job to plan the future, and the future is a fight in America in 2018.’

If you shake hands with Eddie Hearn, you better count your fingers before you walk away.

The highly anticipated world-title boxing match between Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker on Saturday night – in which Joshua triumphed to capture a bevy of titles – saw hundreds of pirated streams as fans found ways to tune in online or without paying the pay-per-view fee.

Content security specialist Irdeto identified 339 streams that illegally redistributed the fight. Aside from the theft of intellectual property and the revenue lost, many of the streams were lower quality that put consumers at risk of a poor viewing experience and missing key moments during the fight.

Anyone got TV ratings of Wilder fights in the UK, or for that matter anywhere apart from the US?

That's not nearly as relevant as AJ's, who has a legit claim to being a "global superstar". No such claim for Wilder who cannot even claim to be an American superstar!!

The only place Wilder might POSSIBLY be able to claim "superstardom" would be his home state of Alabama or more likely his hometown of Tuscaloosa.

Not so sure that Wilder would be able to even close to sell-out Bryant-Denny Stadium (101k capacity) in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Joshua sells out Wembley which is over 90k.

UK broadcasters like Sky Sports or Box-Nation don't give out viewing figures.

The odd free to air channels do at times.
