I don't doubt that both fighters want the fight.

Now it is just down to both teams to agree the logostics and financials.

There will be a lot of posturing and misinformation from both sides and a lot of stirring the pot from media sources in the meantime.

There is absolutely no reason why the fight shouldn't be made this year.

Hopefully all the bs and politics can be sorted out asap so they can get to it

What Wilder and Joshua say in public is irrelevant.

It is what Hearn, Finkel and Haymon say and do behind closed doors that decides if and when the fight takes place.

An interim fight makes sense from a purely financial viewpoint (which is why Hearn is so keen on the idea) but fans will find it hard to get excited about the likes of Miller, Whyte and Brezeale.

I don't trust Hearn, but Joshua is at the stage of his career now where he dictates the fight's he wants to make. It was evident that both Joshua's trainer (Rob Mcracken) and promoter (Eddie Hearn) did not want to take the Klitschko fight at the time, both are on record at saying the fight is happening two or three fights to early, but Joshua made the play and said make the fight. Eddie is in a tough position given the renegotiation with Joshua and his contract, and the fact there is a bidding war between Showtime and HBO means if Joshua wants this fight to happen next, ultimately it will.

It would be an epic fail if they made this the next fight.

Part of a promoter's job is to protect the interests of his fighter. He's got the A-side in this negotiation and it's up to Wilder to come up with something sensible or go back to earning a fifth of what he would get vs Joshua.

I want to see the fight too but Wilder has to be reasonable. If he actually gets offered 40% he should bite Hearn's hand off.

You mean Hearn that delivered the Klitschko and Parker fights in good style? You're a hard man to please!

From a promoter perspective, it makes perfect sense for Wilder to fight Whyte in the UK, then Joshua. Whyte has a good reputation at hyping a fight with 'fake beef' which will raise the profile of Wilder to the British fans, setting up a super fight against Joshua.

If you're a business man (which you clearly are not) this is the move to make.

Hearn should make an offer for Wilder, if he beats Whyte in UK then he has a contractual guaranteed fight with AJ!

..my understanding is that WBA have ordered Joshua to fight Povetkin and they have 30 days to negotiate ..Eddy should better take care of that first..
