If he can make 154 and be in top shape, he's not a natural SMW.

Saw a pic of him training the other day... dude looks like he has Manute Bol legs. Can't tell in the ring because of the baggy shorts.

He might, and I'd like it if he did because I like Hurd, but I think Hurd's style plays right into Lara's hands. I expect this to be one of Lara's better performances actually.

I'll be rooting for Hurd though because he's WAY more fun.

Nope. Hurd has decent legs for his upper body. A good example of 'Manute Bol legs' is Wilder.

So strong and relentless is Hurd once he warms up.

You wonder if Lara's aging legs (35 years) will finally betray him in the later rounds.

Maybe a buzzsaw like performance from Hurd against a talented but aging veteran.

Aside from the bodyshots, it might be a good idea for Jarrett Hurd to use the Lennox Lewis strategy of kinda laying his body weight across Lara when they clinch. He's physically bigger, and that could help tire Lara out as well.

The winning strategy for Hurd here is to put the work in early so that he can hopefully win by KO late in the fight. In the early rounds his focus should just be on breaking down Lara for the long haul. If he's head hunting early, he's f*cking up.

Hurd often falls behind in the early rounds and then picks up the pace and steamrolls opponents.

I expect Lara to jump out to the lead. But by the 5th, Hurd begins to break him down.

Lara, previously a 7-5 favorite has dropped to just 6-5 today.

I hope Lara engages this time and his age doesn't let him down so we get a good entertaining fight.
I also hope, if it goes to the scorecards, that the judgement is fair and representative of the fight.

They both have the same promoter so I don't really see any reason why he'd rig it for one guy or another unless he thinks there's more money to be made by the more exciting Hurd...which he'd probably be right in thinking

I admire skilled boxers, but when they prance about and don't engage, then my attention wanders.

I'll make an an exception for his disappointing display against Loma but prior to that I loved to watch a defensive master-class from Rigo.

True. I remeber that lots of boxing hardcore fans praised Rigo's defensive skills and boxing craftiness but after he got beat by a better fighter they threw him to the garbage. Double standards at it's best. lol

Also Rigo and Lara got beaten by younger and bigger men and both cuban fighters were past of their prime.

I guess I am not without sin but his performance was a massive let-down there's no getting away from it. People expected such a quality exponent of the art to put up a better show and go out on his shield.

Rigo was small, old and inactive. That doesn't mean he wasn't a true elite fighter when he was younger.

There was another fight. His fight with Drian Francisco. It was awful to watch. Rigo at times stood stationary, unwilling to mount any offence.

I didn't see that one and you haven't inspired me to alter that fact. Sounds like I can live without it

Props to Lara last night. He showed he has the heart of a fighter. Rigo though, he hasn’t shown that heart if you ask me.
