What did people think about the official scores in Hurd vs Lara fight?

What was your score card?

114-113 Hurd..

The knockdown won it for him..

Thought Lara by a couple (one point due to the knockdown).
Lara looked the superior boxer throuout but struggled with Hurd's size, strength and workrate.

Good fight, certainly wouldn't mind seeing a rematch.

Boxing scoring needs an enema. I really don't think that people know what they are scoring anymore. How people had this fight Lara is ridiculous. Harold Lederman has a simplified way to determine who wins each round: At the end of the round, you ask yourself "who would you rather be???".

If you answered that question last night after each round then you would have had Hurd up by at least 3pts. I did notice that the announcers were giving Lara credit for punches that Hurd clearly had blocked or just didn't score. So maybe that was it. Hurd would be helping himself by cutting that hair because it flies all over the place when he's in peek a boo stance blocking punches. Maybe that had something to do with people being wrong about score.

I wouldn't have complained if Lara won.. Also, if that is how Lederman scores his fights, he's crap.. Unless he's given that as advice for people to follow.. You know.. 'Scoring for dummies'..

Hurd won it for me. Either 114-113 or 115-112. Either works! Highly Glorious fight!

If Lara got the decision, and I know a few o here who scored it for Lara, including one official judge... I wouldn't have minded.. It would be no robbery.. Hurd didn't win the fight very clean..

Last round gave him the win just as the judges thought.

Lara's aging legs predictably failed him late as the pressure of Hurd wore him down.

Lara said he traded with Hurd frequently because he wanted to give an exciting fight.

I think it's because his legs can no longer move for 12 rounds.

Lara gave a great effort but he's almost 35 and figures to have little in the tank if there's ever a rematch.

It very well may be Lara's farewell to boxing at a world class level.

115-112 or 116-111 Hurd.

Hurd controlled the ring. He was the better ring general and outworked Lara. The commentary was completely biased in Lara's favor. They kept saying Lara was scoring when punches were hitting Hurd's gloves.

Very difficult task for the judges, too many close rounds. Perhaps, rematch might be a good idea.

Hurd might have thrown a lot.. But he also missed an awful lot as well.

I had it 114-113 Lara, but I have no issue at all with Hurd getting the nod via Split Decision. It was close, with quite a few rounds that could've went either way so if the knockdown clinched it for Hurd that's more than fair.

Add in the fact that Hurd would have the extra confidence of knowing damn well this time that he CAN break down Lara because he already did. It'd be a harder night for Lara in the rematch I think.

Pinch stats has Hurd connecting on 27% of his punches.

Lara had a 26% connect percentage.

So if Hurd missed a lot, so did Lara.

Interesting in that Hurd had a reputation of being easy to hit. But in terms of percentages, Lara was just as easy a target as Hurd.

Yes, bring on Charlo.

Charlo's overall skill level might be a notch above Hurd's, but Swift is guaranteed to take him places he's never been before.

We would find out what Charlo is really made of.

I didn't hear any of the commentary, but I could tell throughout that Lara landed the better shots in most rounds, he was also far more accurate.

The rounds that Hurd won had little to do with ring generalship and everything to do with aggression and workrate.

Their is nothing wrong with that, but let's not make out it was a boxing masterclass from Hurd.

His accuracy was poor but he got away with it because he threw so many punches and because he was tough enough and fit enough to walk through Lara's counters and fight on the front foot all 12 rounds.

As I said though, it was a very good fight and I would be more than happy to watch a rematch.

I doubt that Hurd can make weight for LMW considering long-term plans, I wouldn't predict more than two matches in this division....And, competition at MW is very, very strong......
