I hate to overhype prospects, but I think Josh Kelly could be the best Brittish boxer there's been for a while

Could being a key word. He looks like he could be someting special, but only time will tell, and he'll need to be determined and ambitous to do it, something where many current fighters fail compared to the past legends IMO.

I know he's won a WBA regional belt,
Potential ranking now with the WBA.. but I do hope he goes down the British/Comm route. He's had less than 10 fights. Why not.. this is what a lot of new boxers are missing.. experience will be key.

I like what I've seen from Kelly and have high hopes for him.

Certainly an exciting prospect there's no denying that. He's being very aggressively matched too, a former champion in his 6th fight ffs!

He's one of a bunch of young Brits I'll be watching.

Glad to see this thread.
So I wasn't the only one to have my eyes opened by this guy.
I actually rewatched his fight the next day ( just in case it was the Guinness glasses  ) and sure enough, Josh Kelly is one to watch.

I saw that on a YouTube video last night mate. Bit out of the blue that one! I think he should stick to the international scene just now. I noticed Karim Mayfields still going and won at weekend albeit in a close one. He'd be a decent shout.

Josh looks a bit special. I was asked to do a few 'intros' for an upcoming bash in Scotland to raise funds for Ken Buchanan. The intros were on John Conteh, John H. Stracey, Jim Watt, Richie Woodhall, Steve Bunce...and Josh Taylor.

I see Josh is back in training camp. Hoping to hear of an opponent soon.

Top class. Looks to have it all and is being brought along nicely. Division is shaping up nicely as well. I'm a Scottish fanboy though

Kelly would bash the head of Gavin. Still, it might be a decent learning fight.
Gavin can be a slippery one when he's at his best.

What happened to Gavin fighting for an IBO belt?

He looks the part, can see him going a long way.

Skeete said he would probably be vacating the British title soon, that should open up Kelly's path.

Gavin would be a reasonable opponent who will at least offer something different.

Taylor is excellent also, not as flashy as Kelly, but carries a bit more power and has great shot selection.

I would say he is past the prospect stage now and should be seen as a contender.

If he isn't challenging for world titles by late this year/early next year I will be suprised.

Still think he has crazy potential, but he showed some overconfidence and naivety tonight IMO.

He seemed aware in the post fight interview atleast.

he looks good but im not sure about him being the best in years. seems to me like a guy who when he steps up may be a bit short on power and id like to see how far the athleticism can go in a pretty talented division. also how he deals with a tough nut who keeps the punches coming. btw carlos adames who is a solid but not amazing ww prospect i thought did a better job on molina and dropped him multiple times in winning every round

although easy to forget hes still got like what, 7 pro fights.. interesting to see how he progresses. he feels like a guy i can see a pretty wide range of outcomes for

i get way more energy (more of an entertainment thing though) about ritson, although well see how his defense holds up higher up

If he focuses more on the fundementals, and less on fvcking around, with the footwork and speed he has.

Ritzson is very good, very watchable, and very likeable, but I can't see him getting up with the true elites, I think Kelly could. Could is a key word though.
