O'Sullivan rejects GGG fight

Reports that Spike O'Sullivan rejected an offer to take on GGG on May 5th.
Spike is fight fit and is on an undercard fight the day before on ESPN.

So the chances of a win against GGG were short, very short. But the payday must of been quite a bit more than an undercard fight. Spike's not even got a named opponent yet for May 4th. A decent showing again GGG would of risen his profile more as well.
I'm guessing that Spike is aiming for Saunders, which isn't a bad fight and losing to GGG would scupper that, at 33 though Spike could find his chance at the bigtime has been passed up by not going for GGG.

he should be grateful he was even considered for a fight with GGG. Mad sense of self entitlement

He will get criticised for not walking into an execution.

Andrade says he is fiT and ready to fight and keeps calling him out. Not sure why, at the very least, GGG's team don't call his bluff. If that fight got made its a good fight. O Sullivan is a desperate fight. I understand that he's been training for Canelo and Andrade is a totally different fight but by the same token its not like Andrade's been in camp training specifically for GGG.

Here lies the problem GGG would iron spike out with very little problem

I think so too, it could be just a glorified sparring session, where GGG could take him out in any round he pleases. Although upsets do happen, but could not see it here

Surely this would have easily been an all time pay day. Given GGG profile and they need to fill the date they could have chucked Spike $500k.

So what if he goes in a loses to one of the p4p in the world, a payday that could of set him up, and the Saunders fight is still there.
Unless the money on offer was small I don't understand why he wouldn't take it. He's 33 not 23

He would rightly want compensating well for getting his head smashed in.

Spike doesn't dare to dream!
One punch can change a fight, and he could say he had been in the an ATG, his name would be in the record books forever.
Even if he was only getting 25k, those type of paydays don't turn up every day.

One punch can change a fight don't apply to spike in this fight after the punch Alvarez landed and GGG didn't even flinch. Joking aside I get what your saying mate and the pay day he would get would surely be more than what he would get elsewhere

Christ don’t tell me we’d have to sit through that again! Their last fight was torture to watch.

Alex Garcia an ok 90's heavyweight got offered $500,000 to fight George Foreman, his management turned it down, Garcia then got knocked out earning $6000 in his next fight

I for one am glad. I didn't want to see that anyway. In fact for stopping that fight from happening I might contact Spike and find a way to give him some money.

Too right, Eubank jnr who gets loads of hate and is supposedly crap smashed him in 5 rounds but he is still credible for some reason.
