just heard the fight is off. they are looking to find some one else. Biritsh board didnt like sendra medical results. or something like that.

On a Hennessy show in November, Howard Eastman is scheduled to top the bill against Jorge Sendra. The fights falls apart at short notice.
On a Hennessy show in January, Eastman is scheduled to top the bill against Sendra a second time. The fight falls apart at short notice.
On a Hennessy show in April, Junior Witter is scheduled to top the bill against Salvatore Battaglia. The fight falls apart at short notice.
On a Hennessy show in March, Carl Froch is scheduled to top the bill against Tony Dodson. The fight falls apart at short notice.
On a Hennessy show in June, Froch is scheduled to top the bill against Dodson a second time. The fight falls apart at short notice.
On a Hennessy show tomorrow, Eastman is scheduled to top the bill against Sendra for a third time. The fight falls apart at short notice.
And people wonder why the BBC are dumping boxing...

The EBU were happy for the fight to go ahead, but the BBBoC arent.
So blame the BBBoC.
And if thats the reason the BBC are dumping boxing, why hasnt Sky dumped it, I aint seen a good Sky bill in years.

Perhaps promoters really need to think of having a top grade opponent on a retainer reasy to stand in, as the standard in the future?
They should advertise it, Eastman vs Sendra (Antwun Echols on standy if either fighter pulls out).

Call me naive but when the board saw Sendra already twice fail as an opponent then why didn't they step in and say "We are not going to sanction this man" and save everyone the time and hassle...after two failed attempts to stage the fight and plenty of promotion and then just weeks before the bout they then pull the plug?! Am i missing something here
These are the same idiots who vetoed Jorge Castro as a Macarinelli opponent right?

Khan offered funding to remain an amateur

The amateur Boxing Association's development officer last night revealed details of the offer they will make to the Olympic Games silver medallist Amir Khan today.
The 17-year-old's father Shah and agent Asif Vali had claimed they are only receiving second-hand information from the ABA and that, although Khan has wants to stay amateur until after the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, they have been given no choice but to listen to professional promoters.
But the ABA's Paul King said last night that with the aid of Sport England they are set to table an offer of £70,000 a year tax-free for the Bolton fighter to preserve his amateur status.
"It's a good offer - but it's the first we've known about it," Asif said. "We've not seen it ourselves and we've not received anything in writing."
Vali continued: "Amir's wish is to stay amateur - but there is pressure on us to speak to the promoters as well, we'll speak to anybody. Amir wants to go to the Commonwealth Games and to Beijing and we have to take that on board, because we will do everything we can to adhere to his wishes. But the ABA should come to us first with the offer so we can consider it - then we can go public on it together.."
Vali denied that the Khan camp are solely concerned with money. "We don't want Amir to be earning millions," he said,- we just want the ABA to firm up the offer in writing and we'll come back to them."
Elsewhere, Howard Eastman's tortuous career took another twist yesterday when it was revealed that his scheduled opponent in tonight's European middleweight title fight, the Spaniard Jorge Sendra, cannot fight because has shrapnel from a bullet wound in his neck and is unable to have a full medical.
The show in Nottingham will go ahead with the main attraction, the vacant British super-middleweight title fight between local boxer Carl Froch and Derby's Damon Hague.

Thanks a lot, mate. Wasn't doubting, just looking for corroboration. Like I said the Arena think it's still on, but the guy on the phone sounded like he was a right cross short of a one-two.

Wasn't it reported in an article a few weeks ago in Boxing News that he had shrapnel in his neck, wouldn't that have alerted the BBBofC that it might need checking out.

I think that's a good match for 24 hours notice (but we don't know how long he's been on call...). He made Magee look ordinary, although quite how difficult that is is questionable. Big lad, too. Eastman could get taken to the later rounds here, depending what shape Elliott's in

You've got to say they have pulled this one out of the fire. I reckon they must have had him on standby for some time, they probably had some doubts about this one coming off. If Eastman manages to do a number on Elliot who is a big feller, then it will look good for him.

He's fought as much at 160 as 168 though, he has some interesting names on his record.
Win over Soliman a while back is one.
Not sure why its 8 and not 10 though.
And lets hope the Taylor promises are true. They need to make that fight before BBC bugger off....they may JUST make a live card out of that....

With respect to Dobson, Sendra, Froch and Eastman, I'd hate to have spent £100 on the full card, but it's still a good last minute replacement.
