Anyone familiar with Brian Carlos Castano (15-0, 11 KO's). He's relatively unknown to non hardcore fans, even though he shares the WBA super middleweight title with Jarrett Hurd. I'm wondering if Castano will be a player in the future? I saw him fight live 3 years ago at the Palms, it seems like he has drastically improved since then.
I like the kid. He is an ascending great boxer to soon easily fit between the 5 best Argentinian fighters of the last 10 years (Martinez, Matthysse, Maidana, Baldomir and Narvaez).
He's a very complete boxer in terms of general skills and power. He had a very good amateur background (with wins over Errol Spence Jr., Esquiva Falcão and Serhiy Derevianchenko) and now is putting this on the real test as a Pro.
His fight vs (equally average-good boxer) Michel Soro really tested him and now with the KO win over Vitu put him on a scale of being able to fight vs top 10 boxers of his weight class. The worst is that his name isn't so known, but I think it is a matter of time.

He looks good but he's nowhere near Hurd's level. Like many French fighters Vitu and Soro have impressive records but built there records by fighting bottom-feeders with good records.
Castano could be a factor at 154 but needs to stay busier, hopefully he will now that he has a title. He's had only 15 fights in almost 6 years and has fought only 4 times since 2015.

i think michel soro is around as good as trout is now and no worse then guys like tonny harrison, and of course hed beat jo jo dan
in reality castano clearly beat soro, no way it shouldve been split
i dont think castanos elite at this moment but with more activity he can get even better, him vs trout wouldve been better then charlo vs trout. id also like to see him vs j williams, kell brook, liam smith, etc
he was the only person to beat derev in wsb and of course had other good wins as well, like vs spence, its a shame hed been pretty inactive but hes stepping it up now
he is kind of small for 154 though

Soro is much better than the "french fighters" potrayed in the above post... defeating him was impressive by Castano. If you don't know him you should.

i agree, vitus not all that (ebu level and no more) but soro is legit, beating him clearly (f@ck the one bad card) in france is a serious win
