"Tyson Fury’s Comeback Opponent Down To Three Names"

Comeback season is in the air for former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury who returns to the ring on June 9th in Manchester with all attention now turning to who it will be.

The odds are now starting to roll out across most sports book lines for who it will be and after looking at them all this morning, there are two names now in the running according to most:

Dominic Breazeale and Alexander Ustinov.

Both relatively credible opponents for a comeback to the ring to be fair.

American Shannon Briggs was thought to be in the running potentially too up until recently.

Don’t discount him as a possible outsider to land the fight on June 9th.

The following article from a separate website seems to support the above claims:

"Odds on Tyson Fury next opponent"

Thoughts?

Dominic Breazeale would be the most intriguing as he'd actually be a somewhat live underdog.

Briggs would probably be the best seller as for some reason he's fooled a lot of people into believing he's still dangerous with his mouth.

Ustinov would be the least intriguing of the 3 options.

Without question. He's actually a borderline Top 10 contender. Certainly Top 15 at worst.

Braezeale is NOT a good fight for Fury out of the gate. He would be good for a third fight or better, depending on Fury's first and/or second performance, once his comeback is in full swing. Braezeale poses a danger to Fury as no one knows how he will react first time in the ring.

I'd love nothing more than to see Fury knocked on his worthless ass first fight back. Then the Boxing world would finally see him for the man I already see him as.

A joke that disgraced the sport and the Heavyweight Championship.

Agreed, I don’t see Breazeale being picked for the same reason. It’s not a good match first off. I could see Briggs in the other corner, he’s a name and a showman.

That explains why you prefer Breazeale. I was coming from a best plan for Fury. I still think he's hysterical. I don't mind that sort of idiocy.

It's not the stupidity at the press conferences I mind. It's winning the title, scheduling a rematch with the former Champion and then f*cking off and becoming a fat slob for 2 years that bothers me.

To me he's a disgrace, and I'll always passionately root for EVERYBODY to knock him out. Any time he fights.

That's reasonable. You are a true lover of the sweet science. I can respect that.

I agree that Fury is a very strange person, but he is capable to attract the thousands of new fans, and because of that, I think he is good for boxing, generally speaking.

Breazeale & Ustinov are credible opponents: Briggs is a bum & if Fury fights him, that will show the extent of his ambitions, which would be laughable given all his crap talk over the last 2.5 years.

I can't deny that he's popular and he draws a crowd.

For all the wrong reasons I think, but he certainly does it.

I'll never be a fan of his, but that being said I'll still be intrigued by his fights. Watching a guy you feel passionately about whether it's positive or negative is still more intriguing than watching somebody you feel neutral about.

Breazeale is too dangerous for the comeback after the hiatus. Ustinov is a too easy option. Briggs is something appropriate, a relatively big name, a relatively easy fight.

Agree on Beazeale; Disagree on Ustinov; disagree on Briggs. Such a layoff to a undisciplined fighter needs a punching bag for a comeback fight. Just another body in the ring. IMHO. I respect the opinion.

Well, maybe. Anyway I hope, Fury isn't in so bad shape, that he needs an absolutely awful opponent, cause that means there will be more time of waiting for big fights.

Yeah...I know...He's going to need 2/3 fights. He can do that rather quickly if his team does its work.

In the past Fury has already said that he won't fight Briggs first fight back.

While Breazeale and Ustinov might be considered for his second or third comeback fight, (depending on how Fury looks in the first comeback bout) I really don't see either being selected for June 9th.

They can both fight a bit. You don't want that much risk after more than 2 1/2 years away.

Is Peter McNeely available?

I agree. Ustinov could be too rough for an initial comeback fight too. What about some low ranked guy, or maybe Briggs, if they just want it to be a wwe-style sports entertainment carny show with a lot of blustering and yelling?
