"President Trump considering pardon for boxing legend after call from Sylvester Stallone"

“Sylvester Stallone called me with the story of heavyweight boxing champion Jack Johnson. His trials and tribulations were great, his life complex and controversial,” Trump tweeted.

“Others have looked at this over the years, most thought it would be done, but yes, I am considering a Full Pardon!” he continued.

Wouldn't that be wonderful after all these years! What a joke that was.

This has always been a "Who gives a sh*t" issue to me.

Pardoning a dead man...wow...lot of good that's doing him after being dead for decades.

How about look into people who may be falsely imprisoned right goddamn now

Help the Living. The Dead don't need no help.

It appears that the Epic one has revealed his 'leaning.'

A pardon is a government decision to allow a person who has been convicted of a crime to be free and absolved of that conviction, as if they were never convicted. This is extremely important to Jack Johnson's family, friends and supporters .... and people who fight for justice.

Fight for Justice for the Living. What good is it doing a dead man? Use basic logic on this one and you'll know what I mean.

If my Great Great Granddaddy got hanged for a crime and you tell me "Ahh jeez he didn't do it. We're sorry" does that make him any less hanged?

You see my point?

Jack Johnson died with this hanging over him. Saying you're sorry all these years after his death means jack sh*t. It's just an empty gesture. Will make for some nice sappy photographs as people pose and smile about accomplishing nothing at all.

It no doubt, does not change what occurred .....

however, it allows today's society to understand that an unjust action was taken and the individual should not be negatively looked upon in the annals of history.

If it were in my lineage, I'd be thrilled that this happened. It doesn't mean that this sort of thing isn't happening to those still alive. Johnson wasn't hanged, so it is quite different. If he had been hanged then it wouldn't be mean as much. IMHO. That is my logic that I use. It just isn't that important to you, Gil. Which is fine.

Anybody with any sense at all already can see that. Like I said this is a meaningless gesture.

Obviously not. Obama and all the presidents before him ignored the issue and pardoned other people who both me and you would agree are criminals.

I'll tell you what though. This conversation seems to come up every year or so, and I always say this same thing. So if anything just pardon the f*cking guy so we can quit bringing it up, and focus on things that matter more...like literally anything else.

The previous Presidents ignored the issue because pardoning a dead man is a meaningless waste of time.

He's dead. What are you gonna pardon him from?

I didn't really pay attention to who Obama or the other Presidents pardoned in most cases, but if they weren't dead it was a more meaningful gesture because they actually helped a living person. By pardoning Jack Johnson you're helping f*cking nobody.

You honestly think Jack Johnson's family is sitting around crying about his life? Get real.

With the pardon they'll take a few photos. Maybe cry a few crocodile tears as if the weight of the world has been lifted off of their shoulders, hoping they can get a book deal or movie deal or something out of it, and go on their merry little way.

At any rate. I've wasted enough time on the subject. Pardon him, don't pardon him...either way you're doing the same thing...nothing.

He's honored quite a bit as one of the All Time Top Heavyweights. Most people aren't remembered at all so many years after their death. I'd say he's doing alright in the annals of history.

By all means though. Clear his name if it'll help you be able to pretend to feel better about something.

I suspect this is more a case of you looking for a fake accomplishment to praise Trump for since he has no actual accomplishments

Well I've broken down in Boxrec's awesome "off topic" section that Trump rocks and statistics and facts back that opinion.

However, this pardon is about justice. I really expected Obama and other previous Presidents to step up on this pardon. Especially Obama as he was the first President of color.

Let me know how that is in the thread about it. I figure that Adamek will win most rounds, but Abell will be a dangerous hitter every step of the way, and he'll definitely be swinging for the fences.
