Unbeaten and Unnoticed

So earlier today on the Adamek vs Abell card there was a fighter named Damian Jonak.

Jonak entered the ring with a 39-0-1 record, and picked up his 40th win today. Now that's quite a record on paper to have with such little fanfare.

Any other examples of fighters like this with 30 or more wins that get little to no attention from Boxing fans in general?

That's a pretty good example. I was at least aware of him though a little bit though I've admittedly not seen him in action, but yeah he's under the radar completely for most people.

I'm only aware of him as a fringe contender with a shiny record.

Yes certainly. Wasn't trying to sound critical of your post.

One reason they usually dont get much notice is that they are often bottom-feeders who feast on scrubs their entire careers.

One who quickly comes to mind is a guy named Don Steele in the 1990s. He racked up a string of 30+ consecutive KOs against scrubs and tomato cans but got starched the first time he faced a quality foe.

I feel like bottomfeeders such as Thomas Damgaard and Donnell Holmes were more common a decade ago than they are today. The heavyweight division used to be totally full of bottomfeeders like JD Chapman, Donnell Holmes, Roman Greenberg, Malik Scott, and a few other guys at the same time.

I went looking for some of the worst bottomfeeders between 135 - 154 pounds who were undefeated and outside the top 20. I came up with...
Juan Manuel Witt: 33-0-2, ranked #135
Arturo Lopez Castro: 24-0, ranked #244
Emiliano Marsili: 36-0-1, ranked #33
Carlos Ramirez Diaz: 26-0, ranked #30

a lot of boxing fans in Poland are joking of him, calling him a ''TBE'' or saying that Mayweathers record is in danger, or that Canelo was so scared with Jonaks comeback that he decided to use peds

Although his 35-0-1 record was no doubt a bit inflated before he lost to Derek Chisora, I wouldn't lump him in with the JD Chapmans & Donnel Holmes of the world. Unlike those men, Scott built his record on a fair amount of useful journeymen & a handful of fringe guys like Chas. Shufford, Bowie Tupou & had the draw with Glazkov. No great shakes perhaps, but eons beyond what Chapman, Holmes or Don Steele ever did.

A little harsh on Marsili, who holds good wins over Derry Matthews (and looked damn good back then!), Luca Gaicon was regarded a top prospect when he stopped him as well...just a shame he never got a bit break out fight

I like how he's got a win quite recently over somebody who is literally unknown .

Jonak was an EBU level. could get a world titleshot, he would be very likely stopped though. no way he would win. he had to fight Rabchenko if i remember well, i do not remember why he didnt though. i remember also him saying his goal is to fight Lara or Canelo ( ). also he was once ranked #2 (the 1# spot was vacant at the time) in WBA when the champion was Austin Trout. i think Jonaks best win was against Jackson Osei Bonsu

The guy came back after 3 years and with a D class opponent, quite respectable, counting that these kind of opponents are normal for him.

The one I would like to fight somebody with quality is Kanat Islam and this guy that seem away/retired from boxing: http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/571019

Others that must have a nice test are:

http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/474627
http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/428710

And the worst undefeeders are:

good mention on dusty harris, 30-0-1 by 22 but even in his draw vs mike dallas i thought he was lucky. dude has fallen off the rader now after some early push and a lot of bad opponents

To me he is Petch Sor Chitpattana... And seen quite a bit of him, he's very young but very very very padded record. Pretty limited and will get battered unless he's a lot better than he's shown.
