Is Tony Bellew an overachiever?

I think so.
Beat Cleverly who injured his hand early in the fight
Just barely defeated average Masternak
Perfectly executed game plan against Makabu and won. His best win.
Beat injured and overrated Haye

I don't think he is,he's won British,European and Commonwealth tiles and a vacant world title, won titles at 2 weights and defeated a former world heavyweight champion in his debut at the weight, yes some titles were vacant at the time and Haye is way past his best but prior to the fight he was supposed to get ko'd in 2 rounds tops so thin'k he's done very well for himself.

If he beats Haye again I think you can say he has over achieved as a British Cruiserweight who has moved up to heavyweight.

He's definitely an over achiever. He's made the best of what he's got and he's had a little luck along the way. He's a bit of a tit at times but seems a decent enough guy behind all the shite patter. Well done to him.

He's been well advised and made himself plenty of money, cant fault him for that.

Big time, and fair play to him. Throw in the Rocky gig and he's had a hell of a life already, could see him doing ok as an actor.

Agreed. I think he’s underrated but also an overachiever (if that makes sense?!).
He’s taken risks and, given his natural ability, the fact he’s made a load of money and won a world title is amazing!

I don't think so.
He's entirely dedicated to the sport and is technically very good, despite him constantly throwing out the narrative that he's a nobody and limited. Let's not forget he is a 3 time ABA champion.
Over-achieved? Perhaps in earning some really good pay days that he might not have foreseen but in terms of his resume there is nothing outrageous on there. He's fought one truly world class, prime champion in Stevenson and got a proper hiding, albeit he was completely weight drained.
He's clearly no fool and was confident enough in his own ability to call out Haye. Perhaps it was a cash-out fight on his part.
I think he's got what he's deserved and the injury to Haye was certainly fortunate for Bellew. And if the rematch takes place, it will ensure he gets an extra couple of million pounds that he would not have expected.

Agreed, and you can't do it without big balls and being daring enough to dream.

sure when he turned pro he said he wanted a British title and his house paid off.
On that basis we’ll overachieved.
Far better overachieving than underachieving

All titles bellew won were vacant titles, british commonwealth european wbc cruiserweight were all vacant titles. Bellew, love him or hate him,has achieved everything a boxer dreams of achieving and i can only say well done Tony, you done more than i what i gave you credit for

No - he was a three time ABA champion - I know he won titles at heavyweight, did he win one at super heavyweight?
If you had said in hindsight - British, European and Commonwealth and a WBC title of some description - that would have been about right for me before he turned over.

Overweight and over exaggerates. Not sure I’d say over achieves.
