Plans are being finalized for the June 30 Top Rank on ESPN card, which will be headlined by super middleweight world titlist Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (37-0, 25 KOs), 26, a Mexican southpaw, who will make his fourth defense against Roamer Alexis Angulo (23-0, 20 KOs), 34, of Colombia, Top Rank vice president Carl Moretti told ESPN.
The card will take place at the Chesapeake Energy Arena, the home venue of the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, which is the hometown of junior welterweight Alex Saucedo (27-0, 17 KOs), 23, the Abel Sanchez-trained up-and-comer who will take on hard-charging brawler Lenny Zappavigna (37-3, 27 KOs), 30, of Australia, in the co-feature.
That fight, which is agreed to but not yet signed, was originally ticketed for June 9 on the Jeff Horn-Terence Crawford card in Las Vegas.

Rather he had fought Fielding.

They should make the Benavidez fight. With Groves/Smith in the WBSS final and DeGale having a mandatory against Uzcategui its probably the only interesting fight out there for him.

Yeah. Sick of waiting for him to man up and face a top opponent. Uses his height and reach to bully little fellas and avoids any risk of challenging himself. So he has found another easy beat who looks good on paper. Whoop de Doo

lol the last guy was unbeaten too and did you see how bad he was?
i mean zurdo has some solid wins so he i wont say hes a can crusher, but 3 of his last 4 are really weak. its one of those cases where its like 'but did they really have to go THAT soft?"

Bar Jes Hart, Zurdo had better wins before he won the WBO belt.

Yep. Mostly for the undercard, and to see if Ramirez slips on a banana skin.

Jesse Hart is the only world level guy Zurdo has fought and obviously he was pushed to the limit in that fight. Abraham is finished. That win meant nothing.

Hart is likely his best win. Wouldn’t say he’s world class. Zurdo is just sitting on the WBI title.

Yeh, Zurdo’s argument would be that he beat a reigning veteran champion, (who was clearly past his best).. but a reigning champion.

I guess Top Rank has to hold onto their few Champions very carefully because Zurdo has been extremely protected as a Titleholder.
