On May 25, the purse bid for the welterweight fight between Shawn Porter and Danny García, for the vacant title of the World Boxing Council, is scheduled to take place.

According to the president of the WBC, Mauricio Sulaiman, the fighters are close to an agreement.

And Sulaiman also revealed that the sanctioning body is planning to order an immediate rematch between Adrien Broner and Jessie Vargas - who last month took part in a WBC eliminator and fought to a twelve round majority draw at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Broner and Vargas were both unhappy with the outcome - and they both called for a rematch. One judge scored the fight for Broner, and the remaining two had it a draw.

That contest took place at a catch-weight of 144-pounds, as Broner is still competing between the junior welterweight and welterweight divisions.

"We have the purse bid scheduled for May 25 [for Garcia-Porter], but it seems that they are very advanced in their talks to reach an agreement and we hope they will notify us soon, but in addition, we will order a direct rematch between Jessie Vargas and Adrien Broner, because it was a draw," Sulaiman said to ESPN Deportes.

Both of these bouts on the same card would be a pretty solid card

Great card if we can get both, but I highly doubt it'll happen. When is the last time Broner was on someone's undercard? I can't see Garcia/Porter being the undercard bout.

Probably about 3 years ago when he shut out John Molina on the Thurman-Guerrero undercard.

He might also have been the semi-main of a Lamont Peterson bogus title bout last year.

AB is all about the money. Pay him what he wants and he'll do his thing at 3 a.m. in some dilapidated Cincinnati gym with nobody watching.
