Hatton continues despite scare
RICKY Hatton has suffered an injury scare - but insists that he will press ahead with next Friday's clash with Mike Stewart at the Manchester Evening News Arena.

The Hitman suffered a recurrence of an old injury during sparring on Monday.

And it has meant that Hatton had to curtail his sparring and only have light work-outs.

He even missed the usual climax of his training, the 15-round body belt session with trainer Billy Graham, due to take place yesterday.

But Hatton has been given the all-clear by his physiotherapist to resume training on Monday, and says he will be 100 per cent ready to fight Stewart in an eliminator for the International Boxing Federation title.

The Hatton camp is keeping the injury a secret to avoid giving American fighter Stewart any advantage.

But Hatton says: "The fight is definitely going ahead - my physio re-assured me that everything will be spot on come fight night.

"The training I have missed has not been too important, as my preparation before that has been excellent."

Hatton had an injury problem before his fight with Dennis Pedersen in April, and missed his final three days of intensive training, but still stopped the Dane inside six rounds.

There's the ready made excuse then for Monday when Ricky says the reason the fight went to the scorecards and he didn't knock Stewart out because of this injury. Perfect excuse really

Some secret, they told you and you've told..................well, everyone really! :D
Hatton suffered a hip injury just before fighting Pedersen after deflecting a Paul Smith left hook down on to his hip in sparring. They virtually give it away in the statement above he's re-injured the hip.

Why would this be a scare? I couldn't give two shits if Hatton pulled out of this fight.

SHOCK HORROR!!

The vast majority of the tickets are now sold... and Hatton might pull out!

They reserve the right to change the card at short notice with no refund.... so anyone who has bought a ticket might be screwed.

The only thing I find strange this time around is that it’s Hatton that might be injured. I would probably take even money on Stewart developing an injury in the next 5 days. Come on ..it’s Spunk Waxwork afterall!

Roll on Hatton vs Ben Chingubungabinga …a lucky late replacement!
