Didn't Alvarez beat GGG?

Does anyone agree with me that Alvarez clearly beat GGG? I watched that fight a bunch of times (even watched the whole fight in slo-mo). I could only give GGG 4 maybe 5 rounds. I fault Alvarez for not engaging GGG more fiercly in the final rds, but I believe his corner thought he was comfortably ahead. I also think GGG looked relieved when the decision was read.

I don't see any case for Alvarez winning honestly. A draw maybe, but that's giving him the benefit of the doubt in every close round.
He fought the fight like a man that knew as long as he didn't get knocked out the judges would have his back.
He was busier throughout the fight. Alvarez was a little more economical with his shots. Golovkin landed more, and threw more, and frankly I thought he fought TOO cautiously even still.

The majority have GGG winning. The absolute best you can give Canelo is a draw. A bit like Broner/Vargas. The absolute best you can give Broner was a draw.

GGG looked relieved? Yeh, relieved that the judges didn't screw him with a loss.. as above have said, majority had GGG winning. Canelo was mostly active for the final minute of each round.

Seen it a few times. First time (live) I was relieved and thought a draw was fair all things considered. Second time I had Golovkin winning by a rd or two. Third time much the same although I appreciate some of the rounds were close.
In terms of which rounds could have gone to Canelo....could have...as in a case could be made for these...imo. Maybe not as strong a case as for golovkin. The first three and the last three. That’s a draw. Then...there’s rd 5. That is a close round.
Alvarez was very strong that night. If he performs as well as he did (in the upcoming rematch), win, lose or draw and knowing he’s being tested...he will have my respect and fandome.
Golovkin on the other hand proved he is an elite fighter. Period.

I liked Alvarez performance that night a lot. Still he did not enough to win IMO.

Alvarez lost to Golovkin. But he has learnt him. I believe, Alvarez's team had plans to make at least 2 fights against Golovkin, cause this would have been better both from fighting side and financial side. So Canelo was to learn GGG, he didn't engage a lot, cause without knowing GGG good enough, it would have been too dangerous to fight him. Furthermore, judges has been always aiding Canelo, so he didn't had to make a lot of effort. And everything had been just like that, the judges helped Canelo to avoid another loss, the 2nd fight had been made, but then something went wrong. Still I'll favour Canelo in the rematch, if it happens.

I don't understand how anyone thought it was even remotely close. I thought poor Teddy Atlas was going to explode, he was so upset at the clear win being stolen from GGG, and I for one don't blame him one bit.
GGG was nowhere near as upset but then his mind was probably already on the $$$rematch$$$.

Canelo has no chances without juicing. Even with juicing, Canelo wasn't the only one who learned from the first fight.

I've gone over it a million times.
I thought that Canelo won based on more effective power punches.
But fans and judges, for some reason, are captivated by the aggressor and the guy who throws more punches.
Clean, effective punches are ignored. Canelo was superior in that important category, and that why he deserved the verdict.
But it was over and done with 8 months ago.
Hopefully September will forcefully clear up any misconceptions.

Oh Canelo definitely landed the cleanest shots of the bout. I won't even argue that...the trouble is he only did that in about 4 of the 12 rounds. He didn't do it in every single round. The 4 rounds I gave him are the rounds he did that in...but his shots were the cleanest, and best landed of the fight. He just spent too much of the REST of the fight not doing enough to win.

op tell us whch rounds you gave to each guy . helps to see what saw better
canelo was landng cleaner but had too many rounds and long stretches off to put thngs beyond doubt. clean punchng overall doesnt necessarly do thngs round by round.

I never expected him to be so gun shy. He said he would fight like a Mexican prior to the fight, yet spent most of it running away or covering up and not letting his hands go. It was the most dissapointing from Canelo I've seen. GGG owned the ring and I had him up 1-2 rounds. The close ones have to go to the aggressor, not the runner.

I had to watch it again to answer your ? and I'll admit that I see it closer. Gave ggg 3,5,6,11 had 7 and 9 even 116-114 alvarez. I do think that alvarez did too much retreating although he was countering quite well. GGG is a workhorse and deserves credit for that but he missed a lot and didn't seem to land clean. If I give GGG 7 and 9, I get the draw.

Yes, I guess that the effective punching, nice slipping and countering with body shots influenced me.
