Chris Eubank Jr update

Ronnie Davies Spoke to Boxing News..

“He knows he didn’t box well. He’s a brilliant boxer he just didn’t show it in his last fight so we accept the criticism. He deserved to be criticised. He didn’t box Groves, he tried to fight him and he was wild.

“He didn’t box the correct fight the last time and he got beat it’s simple as that and that’s the way it is.”

“That wasn’t him last time, that wasn’t Eubank when he boxed Groves. He knows the reason for that. He should have boxed Groves and he ended up swinging wildly which is not his usual way of fighting and why he did that I’ll never know.

“He said he is going to go back to his boxing and I said good and he’s been looking really good in the gym with his hands nice and high, bombing and slipping.”

“He’s a lovely clever boxer and we’ve never had any criticism in his other fights he boxed beautifully in Germany against the Turk (Avni Yildirim) he was brilliant.

“He has one loss and everyone is knocking him, which I understand, but it’s his own fault he didn’t fight the right fight it was as simple as that and George Groves did.”

After Kalle Sauerland told Boxing News Eubank Jr was first in line to potentially replace Groves, Davies welcomed the possibility.

“It’s good, obviously it’s very good for us."

“I feel sorry for George but it’s good for us. Eubank is lovely and fit and he’s been sparring regularly. He was straight back in the gym after the fight [with Groves].”

“It’s a hard fight."

“I’d be a fool not to rate Calum Smith highly but I still think Eubank beats him. If he boxes correctly Eubank beats him, he’s too good for him.”

Be funny if Eubank Jr got the fight, and lost again.

Trying to act as if Saunders didn't beat him as well? One loss my arse!

And why he didn't 'box' Groves you'll never know? Probably for the same reason he hardly boxed against BJS, because he was in with a superior technical boxer who exposed his flaws so he got desperate and had to try and make it a brawl. It's no coincidence that he didn't 'box' against the 2 best fighters he's been in a ring with and it doesn't take a genius to figure out why.

Nothing too controversial from Ronnie, they've taken it on the chin and moved on. They offered congrats on the night and no excuses, as it should be.

Agree with Ronnie, I think Eubank would beat Smith.

“He’s a lovely clever boxer and we’ve never had any criticism in his other fights" Forgetting all the stick they got against BJS because he started slowly (not that it would've made a difference).

He's not a lovely clever boxer and if he'd have tried to outbox Groves it would've been a shut out 120-108.

Eubank jnrs problem is that he cares too much about looking the part rather than concentrating on what is effective, which is usually a little less pleasing to the eye.

apart from claiming a man with no footwork, no head movement, and no jab, just to begin the long list of Eubank's deficiencies, is somehow a 'lovely clever boxer'.

You have to give it to the Eubanks, he's earned millions despite being ordinary perhaps Euro level.

He's not as good as he or his dad think but he's definitely better than the internet thinks.

Most of ‘the internet’ tipped Eubank to beat Groves. Don’t pay any attention to ‘the internet’.

Smith vs Eubank does not interest me.

And I can't be arsed with Eubank Jr unless his training situation changes.

Eubank needs to get a proper trainer ( no disrespect to Ronnie Davies but Jr doesn't consider him a trainer), tell his dad to stay away and get to middleweight.

But that's never going to happen so like Nas said he may as well retire.

None of the above will happen but he can still make himself a fortune and tv love him.

It does interest me, but nowhere near enough to even contemplate buying it as PPV.

He has all the fundamentals to be a very good boxer.

He just needs a proper trainer and to get away from dad asap

My thoughts exactly :TU:
He got shown up at the highest level (twice) and there is no big deal about that. He is young and dedicated, if only he gets a good trainer/mentor and listens, he has a decent future and I wish him well.
