I think they've had it with him. They took Canelo off their rankings, so I don't see why they would bend for the 41-year old Stevenson.

So, they followed their rule with the top earner they got. Why would they break the rule with Adonis who will retire soon.

Canelo's not fighting, he's suspended. Having him on the rankings or not–makes ZERO difference. It actually occupies a spot they can sell to someone else.

It's not like they've ordered the fight yet.

I would hope that Oleksandr Gvozdyk is granted his shot at Stevenson before Jack is given an opportunity to engage in a rematch against Stevenson, but there a few issues worth considering:

• The WBC’s rulebook state that they can exercise its sole discretion to permit exceptions to their own rules
• The WBC only stated that the “WINNER” of the Stevenson-Jack contest must face Gvozdyk next, but there was no actual “WINNER” of that bout
• The WBC have a proven track record of applying their rules inconsistently
• The WBC have not imposed a deadline for their 175lbs champion to face Gvozdyk

For the record, I’m not proposing that the WBC would be “right” to allow Jack to face Stevenson again before Gvozdyk, but I am suggesting that we should consider the possibility that the Ukrainian may not necessarily become the Canadian’s next opponent.

I have no interest in seeing Jack vs Stevenson rematch.

Stevenson seemed old. Jack didn't look too good for the weight. Power and durability was just not there. Kovalev would steamroll him.

Stevenson vs Gvozdyk would be far more interesting. That could tell us if Stevenson still belong on the top.

All that being said I still have to say that Jack was a good win for Stevenson. Well done for the superman.

Adonis Stevenson may finally have to face a mandatory challenger.

WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson might finally have to face a mandatory challenger, something he hasn’t done in nearly five years, as the sanctioning body has ordered him to face Oleksandr Gvozdyk, with a purse bid set for July 2.

If the fight does go to purse bid, it will be a 65-35 split for Stevenson (29-1-1, 24 KO), who recently went to a draw with Badou Jack on May 19, snapping a 16-fight win streak that went back to 2011.

Since beating Chad Dawson for the WBC title in 2013, Stevenson has defended nine times, including wins over Tony Bellew, Andrzej Fonfara (twice), and Sakio Bika.

Gvozdyk (15-0, 12 KO) is a Top Rank fighter, 31 years old and ready for his shot. He won bronze for Ukraine at the 2012 Olympics, and has scored solid pro wins over Nadjib Mohammedi, Tommy Karpency, Isaac Chilemba, Yunieski Gonzalez, Craig Baker, and most recently Mehdi Amar.

But he’s never faced a top fighter, either, and Stevenson would be a notable step up.

Stevenson and his title is beyond a joke.
Fights once a year
Won't take on a mandatory
Wants way more money than he deserves
Seems to get preferential treatment from the WBO, despite his once a year fiasco fights earning them stuff all %

adonis had a really exciting career when he won the title and made his first few defences, but then he really stagnated. think he was content with his place getting good pay for not very tough opponents. jack was a good fight though and id like to see gvodzyk next,
