Just watched the Gamboa / Crawford fight. Got knocked out but Gamboa was pretty impressive with speed and ability to hit Crawford. Is he expected to strive for more at this point?

I wouldn't think so. The Gamboa fight was 4 years ago, and he hasn't exactly impressed since

In retrospect, the loss to Crawford doesn't look to bad.

Gamboa controlled the fight in the early rounds against the naturally bigger man.

A decent enough performance against a now top P4Per.

But Gamboa hasn't done much significant since that fight 4 years ago.

And his defeat to unheralded Castellanos last year, where the Cuban quit on his stool, probably finished him as a major player on the boxing scene.

Gamboa has never looked comfortable or especially impressive at 135. It's unlikely that at 36 he'll ever be more than a name opponent for a rising prospect.

gamboa is really the only one who had notable success against crawford. maybe crawford has dropped some rounds in other fights by taking them off, but gamboa was actually outspeeding him and causing him some real problems early on. and he actually hurt crawford briefly later on, right before getting stopped. was a big ass size difference in that fight too

i did think gamboa lost narrowly to sosa although of course he got the win. hasnt built on that at all has he

Loved the Crawford Gamboa fight. Have watched it a good few times. Gamboa looks to be finished nowadays!

To his credit he had a right go at Crawford. Even after getting tagged and knocked down he was still trying to attack. The way the fight ended probably took a lot from him though.
