Impressive

I was expecting this one to go for full rounds. McDonnell is tough dude on his own right. Maybe he was drained?

The WBSS have just seen all the fighters look for their get out clauses!

McDonnell just didn't look good. Not sure what was up: jetlag? Trouble making weight?

Inoue is my favorite fighter right now, so I don't want to suspect anything, but this looked a bit sketchy. McDonnell didn't throw a single right hand until the very end, right before he went down.

Nevertheless, Inoue is a beast--probably the most powerful puncher, pound-for-pound in the sport (along with GGG).

Wow.

Didn't see that coming.

A win for Inoue? Yes. A knockout? Very probable.

But a first round destruction? Who knew?

The Japanese star certainly lived up to his nickname. I don't think any weight questions should figure into it.

McDonnell simply didn't last long enough to feel drained.

He was just overwhelmed by a superior P4P machine.

Before the fight, McDonnell insisted that he was unfamiliar with Inoue.

I take it that he knows him quite well by now.

It was only part way through the first round, why would he commit himself so early against a known puncher by letting his right hand go ? Jamie looked like the living dead at the weigh in so it doesnt take columbo to figure it all out.

yeah, I don't think he threw the fight: I just think he was drained, has a soft chin, and lacked confidence.

Inoue is a terrifying fighter to face.

It will be interesting to see where he goes next

Too right, I never heard of the Japanese before. Frightening power. He looks even younger that Tito when he burst onto the scene

What an amazing fighter, didn't expect it to be over soo fast!

But Jamie was rumored to have put on 26 pounds since the weight in, they also reported saying he looked "dead" at 117 and that he must of been dehydrated to make the weight, I don't think he will be able to compete at that weight anymore and be as effective as he was previously.

Sounds terrific.

But can Nery get down any lower than 126?

Nery?

Sounds like a dream. He was 5 lbs over for his fight with Yamanaka.

He couldn't possibly get down to the bantam limit. Maybe 121.

Wasn't Nery suspended for life in Japan? Would the Japanese commission suddenly lift the suspension for a SuperFight with Inoue?

I think they did ban him, yeah. I'm just sayin', he's apparently still fighting as a bantamweight in Mexico. Course, maybe they're just gonna let him do this next guy like he did Yamanaka, I don't know.
