Anyone else hoping for Groves Degale 2?

Genuinely hoping Groves isn't fit for Smith and takes a couple of months out and then announces the Degale fight. The build up to their first fight was up there with the best build ups for a british fight for me. Now that we know more about them and have watched them both win world titles, it would be great to see them clash again. Although they have both matured since the fight, you just know that they hold a deep dislike for each other and the pre fight build up would be great for British boxing.

The fight itself would be different this time because I think it would be a bit more like their amateur fight which, to be fair, Groves won by throwing serious leather at Degale and taking no steps back. I think we would get an absolute corker of a fight this time round because of the pride and ego involved. We would get the best of both lads and a war of a fight. Everything about the fight screams win win for British boxing.

I'd prefer Groves to fight in the WBSS final or recover with letting Eubank fight instead of him. Then take on the WBSS winner. After that Degale can be an option.

If anyone takes DeGale's belt, I'd like it to be George.

Their first fight was one of my favourite all-British affairs in terms of the buildup. Seemed like the first time there was loads of social media coverage (not sure if IFL was going then) alongside Ringside and Bunce’s show on BBC London.

I’d love to see a rematch but I’d like Grove to fight in the WBSS final first. Otherwise would feel like unfinished business.

Honestly I’d like both to retire.
Groves because he has reached the top spot and can go no higher and I like him.
Degale because for no particular reason I just don’t care at all about him one way or another and he is taking up a championship that might be used to make good contests.

I‘m not fussed about a rematch. I don’t why though. It just doesn’t do it for me

Can anybody suggest a less popular UK world champion with multiple defences?

His personality mirrors his ring identity. Charmless.

I have huge goodwill for Double G.

Wouldn’t say I’m particularly hoping for a rematch, but I certainly wouldn’t object to it being made. Provided it didn’t get put on undeserved PPV like their first fight was.

We need to see the Super 6 final.

Groves v Smith could catch fire. Groves v Degale never did.

I think DeGale should call it a day at this point, he's gone about as far as he can and he is starting to sound a bit punchy as well I think.

James is done, I think. He must have made a few quid and can retire a champion with some good names on his record. George still looks like he has a lot more to give. I think it would be depressingly one sided. After their first pro fight, they were never really in the same place at the same time, were they? The 'right time' for the rematch never really materialised.

Degale will probably lose his title to his next mandatory anyway. He should pack it in.

I'm hoping to see Degale v Paul Smith II :bag:

This would be ideal if Groves wins the Super series.

Their first fight was extremely close & whilst I think Groves has improved & Degale has regressed a bit, I don't think he's that far gone as to make a potential bout unviable.

I think Eubank is the right fight for DeGale.

I'm hoping for Groves Smith 11 as the first one could have gone either way.

I'd love to see it again. Give a bit of closure to both their careers.

Will never happen now.

Degales next fight is Uzcategui or he gets stripped of his belt.

Uzcategui will knock Degale out and he will retire.

I was disappointed with the first fight after the build up. Haven’t ever watched it again but from ringside it seemed to me that Groves racked up the points early and then went on his bike in the latter rounds refusing to engage.

Can’t see it being any different this time around.

Really?

You mean, DeGale bringing out such witticisms as; "Groves is an Ugly Kid. Ugleee...." and "You smell so much, I want to hold my nose" to be enjoyable build-up?

If GG and degale fought again i think GG would beat him more convincingly this time round,he seems to be punching harder and as said earlier degale sounds ounchy and is slower than when they fought plus i dont think degale has any class tbh

Yup, it should happen again and why they are still relevant and world class rather than a retirement payday.
Reckon it would be less of a chess match this time round as well and the old bitterness is still there.

Can definitely be made as a PPV. Sauerland look after Groves, so Hearn can sort it. De Gale is with Warren now I think, but has worked with Hearn in the past I believe. I think it would sell.

I'd personally enjoy watching Groves beat De Gale and if the bookies make it close I'd have a nice bet on Groves. Though ideally I'd like to see him in a warm up fight first as nasty shoulder injury.

Degale was truly pathetic during the build-up to his fight with Groves.

He was acting like an 11 year old school playground bully.

He seems to have gone through puberty now though, & hopefully he will probably act like someone in their late teens next time round.
