Anyone know what he's up to nowadays? Did he stay in the game?
Decent fighter who hopefully made a few quid.

He seemed like a top bloke.
My memory is a bit fuzzy on this, but I'm pretty sure that he once, during in a post-fight interview, announced that he had diarrohea and then asked his girlfriend to marry him.
His world title fights were pretty dramatic - a bullshit decision to Woodhall, who, upon hearing the decision shook his head - acknowledging he hadn't won and went over to speak to Carley. Great (and unfortunately rare) sportsmanship.
Winning the title in the final round, in an away from home KO was as dramatic as it gets, as was losing it in the same circumstances.
I doubt he would have made a lot, certainly not to live a life of luxury anyway, besides most people get bored and have to find something to do.Taansend wrote: ↑27 May 2018, 11:24Cheers LennyLenny Cravats wrote: ↑27 May 2018, 06:29 I heard he was a security guard, not sure but I always wanted him as a pundit.

Bit surprised he is a security guard. Would have thought he'd have made a few bob.

Some people piss money away, some get into dodgy business deals and lose a lot of money, depends on his circumstances not to mention the taxes he'd have had to pay.Taansend wrote: ↑27 May 2018, 12:29I didn't say he was living a life of luxury![]()
But he had quite a few overseas fights so I would have thought he'd have made enough to start a business or something.
Maybe he owns a security company![]()
Well anyway, it looks like he's doing well so maybe he did do well with his money.banjo wrote: ↑27 May 2018, 12:42Some people piss money away, some get into dodgy business deals and lose a lot of money, depends on his circumstances not to mention the taxes he'd have had to pay.
It is the opposite he got good purses for fighting away hence he rarely fought at home when he became champion. He saved his money and doing fine.Deserter wrote: ↑27 May 2018, 14:49 Funnily enough I was thinking about him when I read the sad, sad news about Dean Francis passing away. I trained a couple of times at the Empire in Bristol around '94 and saw them spar - seemed an absolute gent of a guy, but if you'd asked me then which one would go on to become a world champion, my money would have been on Dean.
Hope Glenn is doing well as always think he didn't get his dues for his overseas performances or just as a boxer in general, in large part because of coming from Bristol rather than somewhere like London or Manchester. I'm also willing to bet that for the same reason he didn't ever take home great purses, so not surprised he's having to graft.
Cheers Mate. Nice to actually get a proper answer
Genuinely surprised by that, apart from the Lucas and Beyer fights where as a belt-holder I can imagine he was able to command a good purse. My point still stands in relative terms though - any British fighter with a high profile is almost always able to earn better on home turf.Lennox wrote: ↑27 May 2018, 18:58It is the opposite he got good purses for fighting away hence he rarely fought at home when he became champion. That's good to know mate, thanks for sharingLennox wrote: ↑28 May 2018, 03:23 No its normally the other way, you get more fighting away. If its a standard SKY show or equivilant.
Someone that can fill a stadium is obviously different.
If you are mandatory challenger or the champion and it goes to bids is good also though if your team want it home you might have to agree a less figure. They still bid the full amount to gain home advantage.
