Brian Magee
Takaloo
Wayne Alexander
Scott Welch
Scott Harrison

Etc etc

Anyone know what any of them are up to?

Scott Welsh apart from stalking me at pro shows has his care home business and has recently promoted a pro show in Portsmouth.

Takaloo didn’t he get the jail for benefit fraud?

Should be clear of Shotts in a few months. He is 40 now, and planning a comeback when he gets out. All the best to him.

He's a nasty piece of work when he's on one. Always playing the victim. Hopefully his latest stint in the jail has tamed him and he's grown up a bit. I was a massive fan of his but he let himself down big time. Happens to the best of us but the tricky part is learning from it.....

He shouldn't come back to the ring either.

Hmmm, hardly a certainty that the Board will re-licence him and a comeback would be I’ll-advised, he didn’t seem to have a great deal left in losing to Liam Walsh a few years back. Perhaps he should just concentrate on his painting...

I guess boxing can be a lonely and unforgiving sport with chances of redemption few and far between. Footballers, rugby players etc can blame the pass, the ref, have a bad day but they can redeem themselves the following week.

Boxers don't really have that. If they make a mistake, don't train properly, stand still instead of slipping the jab etc then its all down to them and to get a shot at redemption with training, selling tickets it must be tough - when Colin Kenna fought Krence I reckon he took two coaches plus cars to Reading but after that defeat his career never really got back on track even the night he won the Southern Area I don't think there was a hundred of us there but on his first defence he sold Southampton Guildhall out so shows what a title can do.

Robinson is the perfect example as I think it was the Booth fight when he didn't put his guard up, or he made a silly mistake and Booth had him down, the pain on his face with the knowledge there was no way he was winning this fight bar a KO and he didn't. You have to be a strong character for that not to eat as you over the years - the what if.

Sad as I used to really like watching Dale fight and train when I lived in Huddersfield. Then on the other hand as Coco said a lot of fighters chase that high.

Wayne is in Jamaica seeing his parents for a holiday and he's living more north London way I forget exactly where ,he did do a short stretch inside but he's doing a bit of reffing on the Queensbury circuit now and is in a decent place with himself

A lot of boxers have grown up on the wrong side of the tracks so quite easy for them to fall back into a life they know well, especially if their friends and family are also living that way, lads I used to box with in the pros regardless of how well they were doing in boxing were still on the rob, fighting on the town, getting off their heads and all the rest of it, sometimes you just cant change what people are.

Good post mate ! I used to watch dale back ij the sky days (usually mark hobson undercard)

Funny its true what coco said about the high ive told my family coach boss everyone i am retiring when my license expires in march ive been saying it for 2 years now and my fiance is having twins in oct.

But the closer i get the more i dont want to retire - to be a pro boxer is all ive wanted to be since i was 10 and my life has been based around a "date" for my next fight, dont know what ill do when im.not doing this anymore tbh.

The highs of boxing are amazing, and I am talking about my time as a journeyman, it great being a pro boxer.
Imagine being a genuine contender or a champion, life will def be sh*t afterwards.
I wouldn't change anything, but I would kill to have that time again.

might be hard really in any endevour where decline can start so fast. your a good boxer all your life and thats how you see your self, but then its over by your 30s

whereas ppl who are in more mental things like politics, business, art, writing, etc can go on there whole life almost and many dont even emerge till an age where boxers are usually fading or finished

Its the same for any sport.

Imagine of this happens when you are 15? - how do kids cope with that?

On Talksport I think they said that something like 0.1% of lads at football academies actually become pro footballers!! 0.1% !!

Imagine going through your childhood at school being the best footballer attached to a club etc. then you are jibbed-off before your life has even started (by this time, it is also likely that they didn't concentrate too much at the old algebra as they didn't consider not being a footballer so academically they are at a disadvantage).
