Add about $2.8 million to that "overwhelming support" and "fault" and Golovkin sadly finds himself in one of those now popular slave wages fights with either Derevyanchenko, Saunders or Charlo.

And come on, admit it, it makes Golovkin very happy too. So happy, that he's pretty much hijacking the fight because of it.

I would think that by now, this painting of Golovkin as some sort of virtuous, noble soul who fights for glory and not cold, hard cash, would be flushed down the toilet.

And it's not me saying it. It's Golovkin through his lackey, Loeffler, who has finally admitted to it.

Golovkin doesn't care about money, has been the laughable refrain. He just wants to set the record straight about the first fight. The purse isn't important.

Well we know that's not true, don't we? Money is Golovkin's priority. It's what is holding up the fight. His sudden insistence on a 50/50 purse.

Loeffler has said so on multiple occasions: WE WANT MORE MONEY! So much for the virtuous Golovkin.

It's not Canelo, is it? Canelo agreed to terms for May 5. The fight was set. But now Golovkin has decided that he wants mucho mas dinero, using the delay/suspension as some sort of weak justification for a bigger piece of the pie.

The signed 65/35 terms are no longer acceptable. Suddenly it's Golovkin WHO IS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY.

And that's fine by me. If he wants more, that's normal. Boxing is a sport second, a business first.

But don't go finger pointing at Canelo and insist that he's the one who's holding up the rematch. Hardly.

It's 100% on Golovkin at this point. He's become Mr. Capitalist.
