Lomachenko: I'll Fight Gervonta Davis - But Only at Lightweight

Lomachenko will still fight again in 2018, more than likely in December - and the opponent could very well remain as Beltran
"Maybe it will be in December, on December 9 [for my next fight]," Lomachenko told TMZ.
The one thing Lomachenko said for sure, is that he's not going to fight WBC champion Mikey Garcia next.
"No, not next," Lomachenko said.
Garcia will likely face IBF champion Robert Easter in a unification, on a date in August.
Another potential opponent is Gervonta Davis (20-0, 19 KOs) - who captured the WBA super featherweight title in April with a destructive stoppage of Jesus Cuellar.
Lomachenko says he's more than ready to fight Davis - as long as the contest takes place at 135-pounds. Lomachenko has no intention of dropping back to 130 for any opponent.
"If he goes to my weight category, to my next weight category [I'll fight him]. Why not? I'm ready. I'm at 135," Lomachenko said.

The question is...
When does Davis move up?
After unifying super featherweight?
Next year? Year after?

Since Lomachenko's knockdown, these possible opponents being discussed seem so much more entertaining. For instance, Mikey and Gervonta would definitely be live dogs. Loma's human apparently and it's way better for boxing.

Even Loma was happy he hit the canvas.. Would make it easier to get a fight, especially at 135.

Gervonta needs to mature before.
Garcia is a better fight, but Loma will need to be more cagey.

This conversation stems from Mayweather inquiring about the possibility of the fight to Arum. 130 is hard for Davis to make anyways.

Genius. GGG's too much of a beast to ever consider getting knocked down by another human but per usual, he's over looked for top P4P man. To me, you get knocked down then it has to affect your P4P ranking no matter what weight class you decide to take a fight in. Loma was officially HURT. GGG's never been hurt in his life. But whatever P4P rankings are a joke.

The one thing Lomachenko said for sure, is that he's not going to fight WBC champion Mikey Garcia next.
"No, not next," Lomachenko said.
So Loma is basically acknowledging that he will need a tune-up before facing Garcia, who is clearly more of a threat than Davis.

So he turned into Carl Lewis for the remaining seconds left in the round because why? He wanted to work on his conditioning. He was hurt ya dope. Learn something someday.

He had his ego hurt so he wanted to collect himself and it was near the end of the round (like you said, there were only a few seconds left), so he had no need to engage. You don't know what 'hurt' means. He was caught coming in recklessly, off balance. His legs never wobbled and he was never hurt. Your only evidence he was hurt was because he didn't engage with Linares after the KD? You moron. He was caught with a powerful combination later in the fight with harder punches than what the KD punch was, and he continued to engage with Linares.
I just taught you something. You're welcome, son.

I'm curious why Loma says he would fight Davis ONLY at 135. Before the Linares win Loma had no trouble making 130.
So I'm wondering...does this mean Loma thinks Gervonta is enough of a threat that he would not go back to 130 for that reason?
Anyone's opinion is appreciated...I'm at a loss to figure out WHY Loma would demand Davis come up to 135.

maybe because loma wants to stay at 135 now? what im more confused about it why daviss team thinks gervontas too much of a draw to fight loma. tanks side already said hes too big a draw for loma and that they want loma to age, so why would loma move up to avoid him when it wouldnt even happen?
and of course its who you tries to read into this that lomas at 135 because hes scared of davis, and of course after already cherry picking a quote to make loma sound fearful of mikey, you do this all the time with loma, always these little selective negativities and negatively framed 'but whys? while trying to pass as objective
and i know you had russell to beat loma in a rematch at one point too. if you deny that your a liar

I've never actually seen Davis fight, so I can't really comment on that possible match. I am, however, concerned about Lomachenko due to the whole surgery issue -- apparently his injury wasn't exactly a mild one, and I have to wonder how well he will perform when he returns to the ring. Will he even be able to box as well as before?

You've got a lot of issues so i'll be cool to ya. You don't have any idea what you are talking about but you are a Loma butt boy and probably one of those guys that called him #1 P4P after his first 2 fights. There's a bunch of goons like you on the site so don't feel alone. Just don't read or respond to anything from me if you dion't mind. I have no patience for idiots.

Dictating terms is an alpha move and can give a psychological advantage. Floyd did this a lot during his day.
