I previously claimed that GGG deserved no more than 40%... and shock horror... it seems that he might do too!

He might have been able to have retained ownership of his IBF strap and also avoided looking weak by caving into GBP's threat to take the Danny Jacobs bout instead.

At least the veil of dishonesty has been unveiled, because it turns out that he's just like the rest of us, he'd prefer to get paid over sporting glory.

Those that dishonestly pretended that GGG based his career decisions purely on nobility and integrity need to revise their ludicrous opinions!

"Gennady has agreed to come off his 50-50 demand," Loeffler said, shortly after Golovkin had been stripped of his IBF belt for not facing Sergiy Derevyanchenko, the organization's mandatory challenger. "Gennady wants the rematch with Canelo regardless of what Oscar says. He always wanted the fight with Canelo.

"He will come down to 55-45, which makes Canelo the A side. It will be Canelo making 55 percent in a rematch against GGG, which will be much bigger than the first fight was for sure..."

"I'm not negotiating with Oscar. I'm negotiating with Eric Gomez," Loeffler said of the Golden Boy Promotions president, who has been the company's point person in the discussions. "I spoke to Eric [on Wednesday] and he's going to go to Oscar and Canelo and see if they can get something done."

50/50 has always been Loeffler's opening price.

It was never meant to be written in stone. He and Golovkin have known that parity is out of the question.

There's still about a 2 week window to make the fight. It's possible. All the talk and threats have just been about posturing.

But GBP may be more interested in Jacobs for now and will let Team Golovkin stew until the matter is undoubtedly revisited next year for Cinco de Mayo.

But if Golovkin stubs his toe on either Charlo or Saunders (having been stripped yesterday by the IBF, a budget bout with little known Dervychenko is not going happen) he'll spend the rest of his life regretting playing hardball over 65/35.

Moving from 50/50 doesn't mean accepting 40. They may want 45 or meet in the middle at 42.5.
